Suggested Implement PTO RPM

Hello all, I have a B5100DT with duo PTO speeds of 540/1000 my Mitchell RC40 bush hog has a manufactures suggested pto speed of 875. When I purchased my little extra hand the deck was on and I did a pass with it in the previous owners field but only at 540 rpm (low) I only have a fence line to control about 15'x325'. My question is is there a way to get closer to the suggested PTO speed? I know I'm reaching but I thought I'd ask some of the more seasoned operators. I'm content with 540, what was Kubota thinking of with such a high PTO speed? the B6100 was a little better and then Wala B7100.

Can you put it in 1000rpm and reduce the engine revs accordingly?

If I was cutting grass only I'd leave it at 1K RPM. If you have lots of hidden rocks, roots, saplings etc I'd run it at 540 or low engine rpms.

PTO RPM is not the only factor to consider when 'bush hogging'.
How dense is the 'grass' ?
Is the grass wet ?
How tall is the grass ?
How short are you cutting it ?
How sharp are the blades ?
How uneven is the terrain ?
Is it ALL grass ,or are there a few saplings ?
Yes the 'hog' will have am 'optimum' RPM, but that's for THEIR test conditions. the REAL world, is never like that. It also changes day by day, even hour by hour.
You may find that 540 is great, at a certain ground speed..it's trial and error. If you cut often when dry, you'll discharge the clippings 'far,far away', so you can got faster(MPH) even though RPM is lower.
At 13' wide, it might be one pass up, 2nd one points you home......

Yes I have considered running at a reduced RPM/ ground speed=PTO RPM. Here is a formula I came across and have noted in my Operators manual: 2500 rpm / 2.84 mph=880 rpm reduced from starting at 1000 (high)
But what I have learned in the past PTO=Torque, so the lower PTO gear should be fine not that I'm cutting acreage but a buffer strip per say.

Agreeing, terrain and what in area makes difference. Maintaining and first cut big difference also. I installed the livestock fence post (steel)last year and I regularly walk my fence line (just 2 acres) and less then a quarter of that is wooded up against about 30 wooded acres. (which I have be flying my drone for the past 14 months)
Sorry about getting off point, So to take your input into mind my first cut will be in low (540) to get a fill for things. Like you mentioned it's not that big of strip to maintain. I cut my cleared field and 8 tree mini orchard ozone radius. Club C.
