After using the L2850 with the BF500 loader bucket in float mode my transmission would not engage in forward or reverse although linkage and levers seem to be moving fine. I shut off the engine and started it back up in about an hour and the transmission engaged as normal again.
My Dealer service department is not familiar with this problem.
Do i have a diverter valve or dump valve that could cause this problem?

Post some detailed pictures to give everyone a better understanding of what your setup is.

It's not GST is it?
If it's not there is nothing Hydraulically related in the transmission.
If it is a GST then that will change everything.

If DT NOT HST, it would be clutch disk / pressure plate issue or shift for issue, in the range linkage most likely.

It's Not a GST.
It may be related to changing hydraulic fluid and filter, possibly air in the lines?

I heard a loud "click", then no gears forward or reverse. Since then it has operated fine although i'm curious to know if anyone has experienced this in case it happens again.

There is nothing Hydraulically related to the movement on that tractor.
So any movement or operational issues have nothing to do with fluid or filters, well that is unless you went seriously out of the realm on fluids as the hydraulic fluid is the Non pumped or forced lubrication for the transmission.

You have either a range lever issue, shuttle lever issue, clutch issue or an internal issue in the transmission.
considering your problem comes and goes, it sounds more like a linkage issue.

Thanks, :) I'm hoping for a linkage issue since it only happened once and has been working fine since then.
I just bought this L2850dt tractor and I don't have any history for past maintenance. I'm not very familiar with these tractors so this forum is a great resource for new tractor owners like myself!

My guess is sticking clutch parts. Did it only happen the one time? There is a jiggler valve or drain plug under the clutch housing to see if water is trapped in there.

That made me chuckle...appreciate it with good humor intended.

I think I know the fitting you're talking about.

I know you're a smart cookie with a Kubota tractor, but "jiggler valve" brought out my 16 year old boy, and my first girlfriend.... I'll leave it at that....

Our youngest is a 21 year old son. When he was 10 or so, I said the funniest words to a boy are "fart," and "underpants."

He had a group of his buds here once, sitting around the table. I said fart and underpants, and all they said was "hehehehe.."

Back to your regularly scheduled program...I've gotten over my adolescent chuckles....🤓

Good to know someone out there still has a sense of humor. You tend to learn many things in a maintenance environment...

Yes, it only did this once.
The tractor has been unused so water or moisture could be a problem. I just serviced Oil, Hydraulic and Fuel filters (dirty) and greased fittings so running the tractor may be a benefit.
