Another Kind Of Steam Engine

I ran across this video of a 150 hp Case steam tractor replica. The owner built it from scratch from the original 1907 prints. He even had all new castings created to build it. Only 9 were built by case and all have been scrapped.
The video shows the 70,000# tractor pulling a lash-up of JD plows, 36 of them.
Quite a machine, and example of the past engineering.

Unless they added a LOT of ballast, that Case would drag it around like nothing was there. After all, it weighs over 70,000#, way, way more than any farm tractor.

That 150 Case steam traction was built by Kory Anderson of South Dakota over a 15 year period at a cost of around $1.5 million. If you google "Kory Anderson 150 Case" you'll get all kinds of info, pics and videos of it in action.

A year ago, Kory had this Case at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion (WMSTR) show and I got to see it in action there. Very impressive, to say the least!! The drivers stand 8 feet tall. It's a monster!
Forget how many tons this monster weighs. It's been said that this tractor is so big it doesn't roll.....it rolls the earth underneath itself.

edit: No, it isn't a zero turn and power steering? But surprisingly, it maneuvered around pretty darn well for its size.
