M6040. I’ve noticed the headlights coming on when the tractor is turned off, parked, and light switch is off. It has happened twice and it has been raining both times and not parked under a shed.
Could it be a switch?

My bet is condensation has got into the switch - closing the electrical circuit.

Too bad, that’s a dirty trick thinking you shut the lights off and come back to a dead battery......
I know it’s not solving the problem, but I’ve thought about installing a battery disconnect switch. And, taking the headlight circuit off the hot battery circuit and putting them on an ignition controlled one so the lights go off with the key

WD-40 is a very good solution to this problem, and easily applied.

Could it be a switch?
Yes, it COULD be a switch. If there is a relay in the headlight circuit, that could also be sticking.

Simple way to troubleshoot is to UNPLUG one of the wires from the switch WHILE THE PROBLEM EXISTS.
*) If lights go out, assume the switch.
*) If lights stay on.... not likely the switch.
