How long in advance should I contact dealers?

I am closing on a property August 5th and would like a BX2380 with FEL and MMM on that date or shortly thereafter.

When should I start talking to dealers about my upcoming purchase? Is it relatively easy to find in stock inventory for this type of thing?

Congratulations on your new property. Inventory varies by region so it would be helpful if you included your location. Having said this, assuming your property purchase is a done deal, I would start shopping now and if I found a deal I was comfortable with just buy it now and let them hold it for delivery in three weeks.

I am purchasing an lx2610. It was ordered on June 1st. Still don't have it. Covid is playing games with the supply system.....

Thank you for the feedback - I'm in central Virginia. The property purchase is mostly a done deal but you never know until you have the keys, so that's why I'm a little hesitant to sign for a new tractor too soon before closing. I might be more comfortable a week out, but perhaps I can start outreach now and let them know my situation on timing,

Start talking to them now. Depending on the tractor you select, and the options you want it could take 4-8 weeks.

I picked out a lx2610 with third function, wheel spacers, and a backhoe on June 20th. If I’m lucky, I’ll get to take delivery by July 24th (sans third function valve which is still weeks out).

Last week ?? Really the sooner the better. All dealers are connect via computer to they KNOW where the tractors are, same as car dealerships... Kubota is no different.

It seems like you could negotiate a price with a Dealer and just wait till you close to sign the papers?

When I bought my B2601 I wasn't committed to purchasing the machine until it was actually at the dealer and I was taking possession. I had to wait 3 weeks for it to be built and delivered from Kubota.

It would have been in poor form to back out - but I had signed no paperwork indicating I HAD to commit.

You might find your situation would be similar. I would go in and starting figuring out where you're going to buy and what you are going to buy as well. Shopping around to different dealers and getting a good price takes time. I'd be starting now.

Not sure how connected Kubota tractor dealers are with each other on inventory. Maybe each one only works with certain dealerships on getting a tractor they have on their lots and not with others. I was talking with two different dealerships this spring and they were not offering the same tractor to me. The dealers were only about 30 miles apart so seems their search area would have been very nearly the same. Dealership I went with was the nearest to me and was selling a new tractor that was ordered. Price savings for a tractor many months older was not that much of a savings for me.
