I've got a B7001/B7100 non-HST tractor. It's a late serial number unit for parts where there's a s/n split, but I don't think that's relevant here.
The service manual says this about removing the transmission from the diff housing:
I believe this is part 66611-14830. The needle bearing (89) is still in the diff housing. Part #88 looks like this:
Smooth on one side, pair of notches on the other side. Mine (this photo is from eBay) does not have that dark wear ring, but it may be a clue.
So, the question is:
Which way does this spacer fit onto the reverse shaft? Notches face toward the rear/needle bearing/diff housing, or they face toward the front/spur gear?
I'm leaning toward "notches face the needle bearing" orientation because:
The service manual says this about removing the transmission from the diff housing:
- Remove bolts...
- Tap with mallet...
- "When the transmission case is separated, the collar at the end of the reverse shaft will fall. Do not lose it."

I'm leaning toward "notches face the needle bearing" orientation because:
- I think the needle bearing probably created the wear pattern in this photo
- The grooves might exist to facilitate oil flow to the bearing
- My hardcopy parts diagram has a *slightly* clearer version of the drawing and there's no indication of the grooves in that picture.
