Oil pan repair?

Oil pans is repaired, I have new gasket and oil in hand. Anyone here know the torque specs for the oil pan bolts?

Depends on type of gasket. If rubber or cork gasket do not “spread” the gasket by overtorque. If paper or RTV just snug (300 in-lbs) should do it.

Yeah, better too loose than too tight. if it seeps or leaks you can always snug the bolts up a little.
How did you finally get the pan off?

The WSM does not specify a specific torque. If they are 8mm bolts, it should be about 20-22 Ft Lbs or 250-inch lbs.

I guess you could call it the right tool for the right job. I picked up a sturdy putty knife with a sharp edge at my local auto parts store, gave it a couple of taps, and she came down. I was frustrated and exhausted with the wrong tool in hand the evening when I first tried. Those are the times I've learned for the most part to step back, take a breather, and get back at it a bit later.

Wolfman can correct me if I'm wrong but if it was me, I'd put a smear of 3 Bond on both sides of the gasket before installing the pan. Great stuff.

I have never used 3 Bond. Does it scrape back off when needed like permatex blue?

Depending on what was original, standard practices would be...
Gasketed.... a small amount of adhesive such as 3M weatherstrip adhesive to hold in place during assembly, or dry. Anything more will act as a lubricant and may cause gasket to squash out.

Machined surface with chemical gasket... Permatex ultra black would be ideal. Used by OEMs for maximum oil resistance.

3 Bond is Kubota's preferred gasket sealer. Most all mating surfaces of your Kubota will have a film of 3 Bond on them. Far as I know of, it's a dealer item. I keep a tube hand on the time. Good stuff.

If you look in the WSM, it will call out 3 bond quite often.

Just had my back pto case off to replace a seal. 'Glued' it back on with 3 Bond.

3bond is a grey silicone gasket maker... equal to ultra grey.
Kinda like a Rotella vs Delo war.
Ultra black still has the highest oil resistance.
Maybe there wouldn't be so many questions on HST suction screens filled with grey crap if black was used.
