I have an MX5100 4x4 I bought used. It has 17L-24 rears and 9.5-16 fronts. I looked at the tire specs in the owners manual and it said the standard tires are 14.9-26 rears and 9.5-16 fronts. It also lists an "Industrial" option of 17L-24 rears matched with 12-16.5 fronts. all of these sizes are for a 4X4. It appears that I am miss-matched. I don't want to damage the tractor so am I ok with this setup or should I be considering replacing the front or rear with the matched size?

More than likely the 17L-24 has the same RC as the 14.9-26.

If you want to confirm this go to titan/ good year's website and firestones web site and they give you the RC number.

I would use tractor in 4x2. If you need 4x4 it must be slick enough to allow the tires to not lock up. The locked rear diff will take you places that the normal 4x4 is needed.

hello,

I d rather change the front tyres,
A mismatch of more then a small percentage (1 - 1,5%) between the recommended rolling circumference of fronts to rears is doing harm to the tractor as one of the two axles is pushing the other, that s what one of them would not like at all...

I think it would be wise and not too costly to change the front tires.

The R4 rears you have are listed as the standard size for the tractor, according to your first post.

Replace the R1s on the front with R4s that match the rears, and your worries will go away. (At least as long as the rears are not worn enough to significantly change the diameter.)

You will probably have to replace the front rims also to mount the R4's on as the are wider.
