Going to get a new tractor . I have a L3800 now, but want a cab. I have been Happy with the L3800 but wonder if the extra money for the 5 HP is worth it in the 4060. I wonder if there is much different in the two tractors? Next up are the tires no sure which tires to go with.The 3560 looks funny with the R1 tires on it, I ran R1 on the 3800. and liked them . What are most guys doing on tires.

I also used to own an L3800 but now own an L3560, both great tractors. My main use for the tractor is snow clearing so the L3560 grand is awesome with R1 tires, no need for chains and easy to stud if need be.
When we were looking for a factory-cabbed tractor to replace the L3200, I figured an extra 5 horses for the A/C and another 5 for a wider RFM. Worked out just fine.
Last three tractors have had R4's on them. I don't get into mud, but they have done well in snow - even more so since I grooved them. The L4240 is my lawn mower and with the R4's it is easier on the grass than my little Ford 1210 with R1's.

Any pictures with that L3560 with AR1 tires on them tractor doesn't see only gravel and dirt. But the dealer says the Ag tires look like krapp on the tractor
I went with the L4060 several years ago for the 5hp and because it shares the same basic engine as the 4760, 5460, and 6060.
I can't say it was money well spent, but I don't regret it either.
I will say that the cab and hst transmission on the 60 series tractors are awesome. Tire choice comes down to intended use and preference. I have had R4s on my last 2 tractors and they work well for me. I don't do much in the mud though.

I just purchased an L3560 Limited with turf tires. Everything I read along with dealer comments said that the turf tires do very well in snow. I upgraded from an L 3010 with a front snow blower and turf tires. Never had a problem in Michigan snow.
Just like rjcorazza, I bought the 4060 because of the engine itself rather than the horsepower difference.
The L3560HSTC-LE and the L3560HSTC use a 3-cylinder engine. L4060 and up use a 4-cylinder engine. And as was said, it is the same engine as the higher models, just without the turbocharger. The 4-cylinder is a little bit smoother.
Also keep in mind the LE (Limited Edition) model you are considering is lacking features found on the regular L3560 and L4060, such as the front work lights, 12V outlet inside, cruise control, outside mirrors, and the right-side door step. For those who say they don't need the right door step because they never get in or out on the right with the loader stick in the way, I've done it on multiple occasions. Where I park the tractor there isn't room for me to exit on the left side. I'm 6'5" 250lbs and I can fairly gracefully enter / exit on the right.
Either way, its a great tractor though.

Yes, very small. Never played football though, always a basketball player. Still do play twice a week in a men's league.
That said, there is plenty of room in the cab for me and you can indeed enter and exit from the right which is nice compared to most Deere competition.

Oh yea I know you can do it but I'm a lot smaller then you. My first time getting out the right wasn't pretty, forgot to put the bucket down and hit the stick on the way out dropping the bucket

1.) Tilt the steering wheel all the way forward
2.) Lock the loader controls using the lock lever
3.) Turn around inside and back out down the step, opposite of entering the cab
Once you do it a few times, its no big deal.
Yep I know how to do it now just the first time wasn't pretty. Wish I had the loader on right now instead of the blower, time to load more fire wood on the deck. Really miss the over priced wheel barrel at times.
The grooves are a DIY proposition. Lots of info on here and tractorbynet on these.

I was all set to go to a l4060, then my dealer call said he had a new model tractor mx 5400 . He said he could sell at the cost for a L4060.
that may be the way to go. He tell me that for the different in cost from a L3560 limited to a L4060. he would do the L3560 cause the differnt in HP is not enough to justify the cost. But this new mx 5400 Model is hard to beat.

The MX is a great tractor. It’s slightly larger than the 4060, same basic engine but with substantially more horsepower. It has a stronger loader.
Of course you give up quite a bit too...you will be back to a standard 3-range HST...no HST Plus with 3 intermediary ranges which can be shifted on the fly. No rev-matching throttle. No electronic cruise control, just a simple friction lever. The entire backlit message center, with all the info it provides on fuel consumption, PTO speed, DPF level, and other info like a trip hour meter and a clock is gone in the MX. You’ll also lose the throttle up button on the loader valve, and the adjustable HST pedal sensitivity. The headlights on the MX are quite a bit weaker as well, although you could add LED auxiliary lighting.
So...yes, it’s a trade off. The L4060 is a “luxury” tractor; the MX is a workhorse tractor with more power and size and possibly weight. You can’t go wrong either way, but you will have to make a call.
