Newbe Here... Which Kubota Tractor Should I Avoid?

Greetings all from a newbe.

I currently own a B7100, like it a lot and it does everything and more that we have it do. But we live on a 25 acre piece of property, we are now moving into phase four of our tiny homestead. Phase three was to fence off an area to call our yard for our dogs and pot belly pig, below ground storm shelter, outdoor kitchen, fire ring, picnic tables and a large garden. Now it is time to buy a larger used Kubota for brush hogging, moving dirt, maintaining driveway, light discing, fertilizing, pulling our 16' PJ dump trailer, etc... To add to the list wants, we want something that will replace our Case 580 Super E front end loader/backhoe.

We really do not want to buy new, we are looking towards a 2010 to 2017 model, something more in our price range.

Kubota agriculture vs. commerical? Attachments, will both support a backhoe attachment and front end loader? I've noticed some Kubota front end loader buckets are painted black and not orange, does this represent something?

Are the older Kubota tractors better than the newer ones?

If you want something in the heavy range to replace the Case there are really only a few models that fit the bill, L35 (old smaller side) L39, L45, L48 (old), M59, with the M59 being the closest to the Case.

Older is better just because of the emissions aspects of things otherwise they are about the same quality throughout!

Since you asked specifically about which used Kubota to avoid...
The B3350 is a very problematic machine.

a 580 case super hoe is a pretty lightweight backhoe....

BUT its still a dedicated backhoe vs a tractor with an ad on.


avoid anything B33 series... thats true.

maybe you should look for a good used L42 of some sort? or move up to the M series!

your getting strong then, but too heavy for your grass.... so keep your B7100 for the light weight stuff.

no matter what tractor you buy? you will find out quickly that putting a hoe off & on every time you wanna bushhog is a PITA.

If you are intent on getting rid of the Case 580E a late model M59 (ie. 2015) will be closer to the Case ability wise, has the ability to use a 3PH, great turning radius, and it doesn't have and DPF stuff to worry about!

Huh? I have a 580M Turbo and it is a beast of a backhoe!

A M59 is going to smaller than a Case 580 but the M59 is the closest thing Kubota makes to the Case.

he didnt have the M turbo "heavy" (16,500lbs) hoe like you have.

he has a 580E. (10,200lbs) thats a lightweight hoe with the extendable boom.

HUGE difference in those 2 machines.

we have 2 580E's. user friendly, easy to maneuver, great for reaching in & smashing down the dumpsters at work. but not the ones we use out in the field for serious stuff.

That’s still more machine than the M59 is so he will feel the difference.

Ive owned both. You will notice the difference on the hoe for sure, on the loader not so much. Im always surprised by how much I can grab and push on the M59.
If you need to get into tight spots and have the option of a 3PH the M59 is a nice meet in the middle compromise. A little on the pricey side though.
