TRYING TO SET MY RINGS IN MY D950 WHAT IS RV OR AV GAP SIZE

RV 0.017 SO SET Feeler Gauge To?
AV 0.035

I don't understand the AV or RV as they pertain to ring gap. The top compression ring should have a wider gap as it sees more heat and has greater expansion. The lower compression ring may have a tighter gap as it doesn't get as hot or expand as much. Check out this explanation:

As in - tighter than .017 file to get to .017, between .017 and .034- leave alone, .035 - service limit - replace.
