im one of those people who doesnt like payments & doesnt believe in owing anything for anything...

but the wonderful Members here talked me into doing that Zero interest & getting the new toy...

payment auto debited out of the account today & i went & looked & the Members here are sooooo right.

only owe $11K & change on a brand new 2601 vs the used ones that you see for sale everyday for $13-14K.

its nuts how high the dealer prices on used tractors is! (yet i cant sell my B7200 at a discount even on here!)

If i had really known how cheap a new one would end up being?

might have gone with the 3301/3350 instead.... not that i need it.. this 2601 is bigger than needed...

but hey for ZERO interest & that replacement policy i put on it? would have still been a good deal.

thanks to all here who help me spend the hard earned cash!

Zero interest on new is often a lot cheaper than used with standard interest, and you have a NEW toy with all the goodies

I'm in the same boat.

searched TLB's for quite some time.... the CL prices and the used dealers are sky high... And I couldn't bring myself to buy some oversized dinosaur /dynahoe for 6k just to save a few bucks...

Walked into the Kubota dealer ..... was approved in about an hour...

put down 4700 ... and got a 55 buck a week payment.

can't beat it. even financed my state taxes and insurance policy in full.

That is the TRUTH, was looking at used and new was cheaper when you figured in the financing and it's NEW so I get to put the bumps on it.

I also financed. I'm paid up till Dec right now..only 4 payments left in 2018 and I own it.
I just ordered two new RCR blades at a local dealer. He said he'd have them in two days. When I go to pick them up I'm going to ask if the 0%intrest is just for tractor purchases ? Once my tractor is paid off, I'd love to get a backhoe. So I'd need to check to see if you can buy attachments 0% also through Kubota.

I wanted used, but the interest rates sucked. The loan is bigger, but the monthly payment is lower on new.

$150 a month for a BX23S with a 60" deck.

$180 a month for a used machine that I would still have to purchase a mower for, with no backhoe.

Thats how I talked myself out of a B and into a BX

I weren't with 0% on a new one as well, started out looking for a used one. Glad I went with new, only 7 payments left. Although, there's a good chance I'll pay it off a little early. ***128512;

The $0 down is great, but you get an even better deal if you pay cash since they front load the interest costs in the Price. I too find it amazing on the costs of used tractors, Most BX7100's that I see for sale are selling thrashed for what they cost new or even more. It just didn't make sense for me to buy my BX used. I could save $2000 over new, but the tractors had 500+ hours of use on them. - It simply did not pencil.
I did buy my U-25 mini ex used. It was a $7000 savings over new and the machine had 54 hours on it, so that made a lot of sense. Currently, I am finding that Skid Steers do not seem to hold there value very well and will probably buy one used.

I stopped by the dealers today to pick up my RCR blades. I asked the salesman about buying a backhoe for my tractor($8.k), and about financing with 0% like my tractor. He said 24 months-0%, then 36mo was 5%, then it went up each year. So you can finance a implement through Kubota credit.

"The $0 down is great, but you get an even better deal if you pay cash since they front load the interest costs in the Price."

No so fast my friend - to quote Lee Corso......

Been down this rabbit hole with the numbers before, but hell, I am bored and I will run them up the flagpole once again......

Let's take ol farmer Joe.....he has a little farm and wants a tractor, and he has a pocket full of cash!!! OK - not a likely story but WTF....lets move on.

He is looking at a BX23S - I'll use a bx cause the numbers are easier.....

$23,244 (off of K's website) .....this is a BX-23s - Hoe = 12" , MMM = 60", with FEL (no QA), with 3 point kit, and R4's.....fairly stock model - no real bells or whistles.....

SO $23,244.....now typically we expect the cost to come down 10% or more - in different parts of the country it will be different, but based on those costs - I would imagine the used will be higher than the rest along with higher new prices too.

SO - $23,244 - 10% ......$20,919.60......

SO now let's talk about what we are getting.....some of you will pay a butt load of tax on that new machine, some will not! Here in ol Virginy...that will come to about another 1K

O, wait for it .....it coming, the infamous insurance cost - last time around - it was about 200 a year for the 5 year term, another 1K

SO - we are back to about $22,900 ish..... at ZERO %%% ...

throwing that in the ol punch box....that's about $382 a month...... at a total - $22,900.
YOU have a new machine, 24 month warranty, and if you drop it off your new trailer, you got it covered too.

NOW - the fun part, let us look at a the "ol - I'm paying cash" what can you knock off - WHEN I asked this - it was about $500 last time I checked.

NOW - farmer "A" is paying $382 a month, Farmer "B" is paying nothing per per month, probably IS NOT paying the insurance either......

"A" = Got a tractor and a payment and insurance
"B" = has a paid tractor and no insurance - and an empty pocket

Advantage? !!!!"A"!!! how so?

His money is working FOR him and not against, farmer "B" has spent all of the money up front, and other than the machine depreciating monthly, has nothing to fall back on OTHER than the $1500 he saved in the total cost.

Farmer "A" is really paying LESS than the original $22,900 - because each payment is worth LESS than the payment before - if the dollar depreciates 2% a year (that's fair - right?) The total cost of the tractor is ......

wait for it ......

$22,217.90 - the cost of the dollar depreciating is close to $680 less than the original dollars paid........didnt see that coming did you?????

SO the money saved BY buying upfront is taken away via the cost of each payment being a little less from the standpoint of the worth of the american dollar!!!

Now - there more ......

IF ol farmer "A" had the money to buy outright.....and stuck that $22,900 in a shitty ol CD in the bank drawing a magical 1%......

wait for it again........5 years at a whopping 1%......total

$24,074.09 ........now true this has not been backed off the 2% depreciation yearly. BUT still, after 5 years - he has made $1,174 ....and yes, he'll pay tax on that too!!!!

He is the bottom line - the money you SAVED by paying up front is wasted in the total picture after 5 years.

the short vision is - "its paid for, and I dont have to worry about it"

The long scope is - " I am making more a month than I am spending on this machine!"
and here is the kicker......

that $22,900 in the CD can be placed in hand at anytime.......like "honey - I need a new transmission in the car" or "Billy needs braces" or "let's take a trip to the Bahama's" -

whereas farmer "B" has all of his money tied up in the tractor.......

Now let's look at the used market.....

http://www.equipmenttrader.com/Kubo...ults?make=KUBOTA|2322602&model=BX25|764921813
https://www.machinerytrader.com/lis...ipment/for-sale/list/?MDLGrp=BX25&Manu=KUBOTA

now - looking at all of these - and there is no MMM - that in itself is a 2k cost!!!!

But looking at the average price of a 2015 or so machine with 200 ish hours, for a price of $16,000........and let's leave the tax OUT !!! and let's leave the insurance out - not that you would pay it anyway.

SO.....used machine, little cheaper, warranty is out, not sure if serviced or not.....not sure how it was used either......

SO - you go to the bank, and the cat-bird on the other side of the table says, I'll let you have the 16K at 8% over 5 years......even a home equity line is going to be closer to 5%......

16K at 8% for 5 years......... = $23,868.15
16K at 5% for 5 years......... = $20,544.05

mmmm........used vs new.....pretty clear picture, just have to crunch the numbers!

AND YES - Kubota is gonna make money either way......

my job is done:rolleyes: ........

EXACTLY!!

you are correct.

just because my mindset/thought process is one way .. doesnt mean that i cant learn or have my viewpoint changed by others.

look at that lovely post from 85Hokie there...

its a prime example of how i have always approached things in life: all in, balls out, go as hard as you can till you fall over. get up, lather, rinse, repeat..

now that im older, slower & healing up from being stupid (physically or mentally) takes longer..

seems that im becoming much more agreeable to giving an alternative method of purchasing things a shot.

see? said what i mean & mean what i say. LMAO

The cash discount on my new U35 mini was a LOT more than $500.

More like $3500.

Still, the 0% financing would make sense if you could find an investment that safely yielded about 2.5% (2% after taxes)

sdk1968, I fully understand!

I get entertainment out of the threads where folks are justifying their being in debt. You can massage all the numbers and justify just about anything.

I agree with your first thought, "im one of those people who doesnt like payments & doesnt believe in owing anything for anything..."

So I'm a dumb farmer (only have 50 acres!), but 3 years ago my wife and I bought 5 acres in the country with a nice home (1400 sf with full basement), 30x50 metal building, 20x24 Butler building with concrete floor, both outbuilding have electricity, fenced all around for livestock, fence around house to contain a dog, metal siding, shutters....nice home.

Oh, I'm telling you all of this because we paid cash...no realtor fees either.
Three years later is worth 30% more then we paid, but it pays us about $800 p/month net. So in the time I could pay off a new tractor this property would be clear, and the value up even more!

Oh, my newest tractor is 9 years old.

I believe the borrower is servant to the lender.... I don't like being a slave!

^^^ YES again. i like the way you think.

like you said... i have no car payments, no credit card payments & prefer to work in cash or trade. (we did just buy this little farm though.. payments there)

hee hee & YES also.. i let 85Hokie, my dealer, my wife & a few other good members here talk me right into getting that new tractor.

my dealer lives near me & she is very convincing in her pitches... (before you ask .. YES shes a long tall good looking woman)

as much as i would like to say "its not my fault" for buying this... it is & im very happy with it. when i come home & hop on the tractor & PLAY.... its a destresser.

for sure for people who do it for a living/job its probably not that way, but for me it is while my health is still decent.

I have always tried to buy with cash what I could....that being said, there are somethings I am just not baller enough in my bank account for. I bought a nice tractor and several implements for 0% for 72 months and 0 down....my truck has a payment on it, my house has a payment on it. I don't finance anything else. and on those interest bearing items, I try to knock out some hard principle payments early as the money rolls in extra. example, my truck payment might be 600 bucks, but because it is interest, at first you aren't making a dent. so for the first couple months I take all my OT money and throw it at the principle in addition to the regular payment. that makes the payoff date significantly earlier, the monthly sting of interest a lot less, and it continues to build my credit so that when the inevitable event could occur when I need some coin, it's not hard to come by. once my current truck is paid off I'll be hitting my mortgage hard until it's close to paid off before going into debt on something else.

my dealer said they will inhouse finance used tractors, and make a killing on them interest wise. especially to construction company start ups, they will come in and buy at asking for used items a pair of skid loaders, 2 mini-excavators, and several other things at 10-12% interest which makes the payment almost what it would be for new, and no insurance, no warranty (90 days at most) means that's big coin in the dealerships pocket. 10% a year on 100k worth of machines on one sale not including the direct profit margin is 10k a year gauranteed just from that one sale. of course all of their used equipment is GPS/Lo-Jacked until paid for. but minimal cost considering they offer that on much of the equipment they sell anyway. I do prefer most times to pay cash, or own it quick. bought my big enclosed trailer that way, a couple good rock solid trucks that way, and most of my other equipment. but sometimes, it's just outside of that "available cash" and with 0%, it really makes that easy.

Hey guys, I should be taking delivery of my new B2301 next week, I'm a first time Kubota owner. I have looked online and have seen a few nightmare stories about peoples Kubota's being repossessed or having to pay the back interest for accidentally missing a payment they were unaware of. Has anyone else heard of this and if so what happened, I want to make sure I don't make the same mistake. If it is as easy as someone not paying attention and missing a payment i'm not too worried about that but there seem to be quite a few complaints about the same issue.
