I bought my L2501 from a local dealer in late April. Have only 37 hours on it, keep dry in a pole barn, out of the sun. The paint is wearing pretty fast on the platform under the pedals, which I know is normal from shoes and wear. All the way down to the yellow primer. But the the rest of the hood, and fenders seem to be getting a bit dull, like the platform. Has anyone else had issues with paint? Maybe a forgotten clear-coat? I've washed it often with a power washer. I haven't waxed it, as my wife would probably laugh at me..

It's not really bad, probably the dealer would laugh at me, but it's 8 moths old..

Yes, I love Kubota's and they are mechanically very reliable, but they have the worst paint ever.

My side panels paint is very thin in spots and you can even see the white primer on the insides.
And my B's platform has rubber, but the edges are down to the white primer.

Sure I would like better paint, but as long as it stays reliable I'll live with that.

It's probably these crappy new "environmentally friendly" paints.

My friend had the best body and paint shop in town and he closed the doors. One of the reasons was he was sick of all the warranty claims because of these new paints.

thanks, I was wondering if it was just mine or me :)

Maybe the wax option isn't such a bad idea.. Will have to do when my wife is shopping..

I applied Cal-Tec paint sealer on my BX when it was brand new. It's marketed by auto dealers as envirnmentaly protection from tree sap ,road oil, bird droppings, sun fade etc. REALLY works. Has that just waxed look all the time.

I think removing lead from the paint has caused a lot of the problems. That being said, Kubota orange seems to fade much faster than JD Green.

I have had my L3901DT for a little over two years and I haven't noticed any fading. I do have one spot on the platform that is wearing, but I figured it would do that.

They had to take all the lead out of the paint, which it pretty much sucks now. A good coat of good wax makes a big difference, and they don't put ANY wax on it from the factory (NONE). Needs to be some. And the paint will not fade NEARLY as bad if it's waxed.

JD doesn't fade as bad because they're plastic, and the plastic panels are molded in the green color as opposed to painted.

If you keep it waxed, and take care of it and it still fades, contact your dealer and ask them to contact their field service rep and see what their ideas are. You don't know until you ask. I've seen them replace panels on some M series tractors.

My L2501 isn't really fading in color (yet), just more dull than when I got it early in April. This explains a lot, and I'm going to get busy with the wax.

I haven't noticed any fading on my L2501, but I keep a good coat of Colorado earthen tan on it at all times. Maybe thats the difference?

You guys are great. Now I have renewed courage to go out and put some wax on the tractor!! Still will make sure the wife and daughter are at the mall. Just simpler that way.. :)

Well, you need to hide it anyway, never wax in direct sunlight.
A friend of mine washes his farm machinery and waxes it after harvest. Combines and tractors. Has something to do with resale value.

Your friend is a smart person! Not too long ago we traded for a L3600GST, had a little over 1000 hours, LA680-1 loader and no rear implement. It was well used and not very well cared for judging by it's condition. They gave $4500 trade in allowance for it. Not even a month later I was working on a customer's L3600GST, same exact tractor but this one had a 6' bush hog on it; had 1850 hours, but looked nearly brand new. Just did a service on it, no major repairs. He had a hair brained idea to get a new L5240 which we had on the lot as a leftover. They did the deal and he got $10,600 trade allowance, and kept his old bush hog to use on the new tractor.

Take care of your stuff and it'll take care of you!

I wax mine with this, once in summer and once in fall.

whttp://www.liquidglasspolish.com/products/liquid-glass-ultimate-auto-polishax

I also use this between waxes.

https://www.duragloss.com/22-oz.-Duragloss-AW-(Aquawax)

Same for vehicles.

Neither is cheap but do well, beads well and cleaning is easier on the slick surfaces.

Are you guys also waxing the loader? I look at all the little nooks and crannies on it and give up in despair

I use the duragloss spray for all the nooks and crannies. And the liquid wax for the larger parts.

The spray is easy, spray on and wipe off with cloth.
