Is an upgrade from a BX2370 to a B2601 really an upgrade?

Ok, as it says above, I bought my bx2370 2 years ago. As much as I love that little machine and the fact it has done everything I've ever asked of it, I've always wished it was a little bigger, had a little more lift, had a little more power, was a little bit heavier, etc. If I was to upgrade to a B2601 am I really doing an upgrade? I've thought about a B2650 as well, but when I look at them they just seem so much bigger and maybe a bit too big. Has anybody done this upgrade and what are your thoughts?

To me - the jump is the next logical step. THE B has more power, bigger tires, (something I wish the BX had) much more lifting on the 3 point. It will have a larger bucket with more break out capacity too.

WHAT is your primary purpose with the tractor? IF dirt moving is it, do it! IF lifting heavier objects on the 3 point, do it!

IF cutting grass - or occasional moving of materials......well, might not be a good move.

I think - IF you buy new, YOU WILL NOT regret it after the fact, not sure I have ever heard anyone say,
"Damn, I wish I could get my smaller tractor back.....this one is too big"

I moved from a B7100 up to a JD 790, which I realize is a slightly different comparison than what you are looking at. But, I want to share this- I have found that I can fit the 790 everywhere that I could the B7100, even though it is a good bit bigger. The width is close to the same, which is where it counts. So, it's been my experience that moving up in size, within reason, doesn't mean that you can't use it for the same things that you did with the smaller tractor. If you aren't sure that the 2601 is enough of an advantage to make the move, don't be afraid of the 2650- I think you would find that you haven't given up anything, and gained quite a few advantages. As Hokie said, that depends on your uses, of course. Some differences aren't much of an advantage, if you don't use the tractor in that manner. Ground clearance, for instance. If you aren't going into the woods with either one, than the clearance advantage of the B series isn't much use to you.

Definitely an upsize and upgrade as well. You get 3spd HST vs 2spd., tilt steering, extendable stabilizers, position control 3PH and NO vulnerable HST fan, dual pump hydraulic vs single pump and steering brakes.

I have no intentions of ever cutting grass with it, other then using my rotary cutter. I did look at a B2650 as well but the size does scare me a bit as I have some tighter areas. I do find the loader a bit weak on the BX which is what started this process. The extra lift of the 2650 is attractive. Maybe I have to look at a B2650 as well. I currently have my BX up for sale with a couple of interested parties, so I may be "pushed" to make a decision soon.

I sold my BX2350 in August & replaced it with an L3700SU. Like you, my BX did everything I asked except, I really needed more lift FEL capacity with the work I was doing pulling fence posts, dropping buckets of rock into bedding areas, plowing snow on the 3/8 mi long road in our subdivision as well as my driveway. The BX wasn't heavy enough to really move the volume of snow I needed to move & more than once I've had those back wheels up in the air trying to pick up loads with the FEL. I also used it for cutting 3 acres of field grass with a 4' brush hog. Took about 2.5hrs.

Had my BX for 3 seasons and sold it in 3 weeks for the same amount that I purchased it previously. It was a 2007 with 238 hrs on it. Replaced it with the L3700SU which is a 4200lb tractor with the 400lb back blade on it. I considered a B series but I felt like it wasn't powerful enough or heavy enough and the L series was only a little bit more. The B just wasn't a big enough upgrade. I wanted 30HP at the PTO since that opens a new world of implements.

I quickly found a 2010 L3700SU (305 hrs) and it came with a 5' Brush Hog (cuts my mowing time down to 1.5hrs), pallet forks, a box scraper, and a ratchet rake. This tractor is a beast and so far it hasn't been unable to do anything I've asked of it. Never in a million years would I say that this is now too big of a tractor. It's the biggest I could ever fit in my barn though. so in that respect, it's the biggest tractor I'll ever have.

It is a well known fact that tractors shrink once you get them home, ask anyone and fear not.

If you can, get them to set a B2601 next to a B2650.

I just got a quote back from the dealer and they want $4000 more for the 2650 package. Now it should be noted that I'm getting a three point snowblower, quick attach bucket, front and rear led lights and quick attach pallet forks in my deal.

I went through the exact same thing a year ago. I had a bx2370 and was thinking of going up to the b2601. I originally thought about the B2650, but was concerned about it's size. My property is almost all wooded, so I spend most of my time among the trees. After talking with the dealer, he told me that the 2601 would not be a huge upgrade in capabilities and recommended I go with the B2650. I took his advice on it and went with it. I'm so glad I did as it is a perfect machine for my needs. When it showed up and I saw it on my property, I was thinking, my God, that thing is huge. Luckily it turned out that it actually wasn't that huge for navigating my trails. The increased capacity and weight has been great. I wish I would have bought it first, but like most, I underestimated the tractor I needed.

The 2650 would be my choice, but you mentioned size and the 2601 is slightly smaller and a bit lighter and the added cost puts some off. That and the title of the article points to the 2601.

I did some shopping this spring. I have a BX2360/FEL/BX2750D snowblower/54"MMM.

With my tractor in trade, I was looking at a $17,000 difference to go to the B2601 with FEL, MMM, and subframe/mid-PTO for the blower. That included me keeping my 2750D snowblower - it will work with the B series. The blower subframe/mid-PTO equipment is $$$.

Honestly, couldn't justify the "upgrade." The performance/capability improvements weren't there for me, and the B2650 is physically too large for my place.

I hold TripleR's viewpoints very highly, but this is one time I have to disagree. But, it's just MHO.

Well, the BX is sold and I delivered it this afternoon. My new B2601 is at the dealer and ready to be picked up tomorrow morning. I got a new B2601, a loader with SSQA bucket, rear snow blower and SSQA pallet forks. I also got an LED light bar facing forward on the ROPS as well as two rear facing LED lights for blowing snow. Along with my box scrapper, tiller, ballast box and rotary mower, I'm pretty much fully equipped now.

Can't wait to get this new toy home.

Well, it's in the garage now. I've only driven it up and down the driveway, but my first impression is how much more "tractor like" this is compared to the BX. It even sounds much different. I had some pretty intense work lights added as well. As much as I loved the BX I'm going to like this one better. For my needs it's going to suit me well. Now I can't wait for some snow so I can get out and play.
