TPH Lifting Speed adjuster

Hi Gents, I have a L3301. I believe this knob to be the adjuster for the TPH lifting speed. I'm not able to turn it either way. Should this turn fairly freely or am I doing something wrong? I haven't applied a ton of force because I don't want to break anything. Any thoughts?

If it's never been turned it's just stuck, turn it counter clockwise as it probably is set all the way fast.

It changes your lowering speed and will lock it fronm dropping. If its going down quickly now, i would try moving it clockwise. If three point is lowering slowly i would try moving it anti-clockwise. A little penetrating oil down shaft and sometimes a rag wrapped around knob and s pair of pliers to persuade it. Be gentle yet forceful.

I just spent 2-1/2 hours removing a broken stud from a cylinder head, a vise grip wouldnt move it, but a chisel and small hammer did. Go figure.

Thanks guys I'll be a bit more forceful with it. I'm just browsing my owners manual waiting for this blizzard to pass and I'm seeing references to water temperature. This feels like a stupid question, but do you know what it's referring to? There are separate references to coolant temperature. What water would be in a diesel tractor engine? I would think it would freeze especially where I'm from.

I assume the water temp is maybe referring to a climate that can get away with water only. Don't know for sure but that's my guess.

Your original question was about 3pt lift speed. You do understand the knob you're talking about only controls the lowering speed, not the raise speed.

That's what I thought, but it seems to differentiate between coolant temperature and water temperature. It references them both. Maybe it's just the vague Japanese translation.

I wasn't aware it was strictly for lowering. Thanks for the clarification. I haven't been able to adjust it. In the manual it also shows a "lock" position but I'm sure how to get it there.

I have had to do like tooljunkie said and spray some penetrating on the shaft and let it soak in for a few minutes. Then rock it back and forth, normally some gentle force will break it loose. Last time I needed to turn mine I had to use oil and then clamp a pair of vise grips on the shaft so I could rock it from side to side. Broke free real easy without any damage.

To use it as a lock is simple. Raise the 3pt to where you need it to be and turn the knob fully to the right (clockwise) and it locks the arms in position. Nice feature when you need to get under a implement and not worry about it falling on you.

What page in the manual is this on? I don't remember see it, I have a L3901 that comes with the same manual.

Page 40/41. I'm being a bit knit picky maybe. When it shows the Emission Indicator warning light it says lower the water temperature, on the next page it talks about Coolant temperature. It would be clearer to use one term when referencing something.

My guess is they just said water instead of coolant in this case. That's just my take on how I read it though. I may be completely wrong.

I read it to mean coolant, so yeah antifreeze 50/50

It's a balmy day here today. -15 degrees Celsius with the windchill. If we're putting water in something it better be heavily diluted.

TPH adjuster seems quite stuck. I sprayed penetrating oil down the shaft but I'm still not able to turn it. I only used my hands, I could put a wrench on it put I don't want to break it.

I had to use vise grips on mine. Just make small moves from side to side and more than likely it will break loose without doing any damage.

Thats attatched with a roof and doors and things? I have nothing of the sort here. Heater?they are so over rated.

Shaft is stuck from lack of use.

I wrapped it in a rag and used a big set of channel locks and it broke free. the channel locks still marked up the knob. took a lot of force.
