I am looking for insight on BX25 Ownership. I think I have narrowed my tractor choice down to a different tractor, however before I make such a decision, I would like to get some input of bx25 owners.
Local Dealers are Kubota, John Deere, Kioti, and Mahindra. At moment I feel my best choice for a tractor is currently the MF GC1720, but there are none available. So I may end up with a with A GC1710.

I love the Size of the Kubota BX25, but seem to be put off at the price and performance. I have not seen the 1710/20 in person. All dealers are at least 2hrs away from me. So all I have to go off are the videos online such as

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5qxZK4VCfA

Are there other considerations to the Kubota that I may be missing?

I Like the Size and Reliability, but feel there may be some limitation with the Ergos, and hydraulics.

Thoughts?

Well OK lets start with what your going to do with the little beast.
Are you a contractor? Are you going to be digging a foundation for a new home putting in water/electric lines? Farming? Hauling hay, rock, sand what ever? Digging out trees, stumps, big rocks? Putting in a drive way,,, what???

The way you asked is kinda like asking which is better Ford or Chevy.
OK with that in mind JD has some good ideas, but they do not make their own motors, and other hydraulic parts, pumps and such. And they are not built by JD but by MTD in the same place they make Cubs and Murrays and a slew of other brands.

Mahindra, from the ones I have seen, it is a 60 year old Case designed tractor with some new paint and sheet metal, not that its a bad designed just made in India and parts are harder to come by.

Kioti well there was a dealer around here and he stopped carrying then, and he couldn't get rid of the ones he had on the lot. Why I don't know I never drove or used one.

Kubota for the most part is US made, parts while not cheap, ( but then what is) are available almost every place like the old day with Chevy parts. And if you watch anything put on by a certain Mfg, of course their product will always come out on top.

With that being said. Whit I would do is contact each dealer, and ask if you could use one for a week end to try it out and see if its the one you want. Most dealers have a rental unit that they will let a customer use when they are looking for a new machine. Or at least go drive one around the parking lot use the BH and the FEL get a feel for it.
The catalogs are very misleading, go and play with each Mdl you like and then you pays your money and takes your chances just like the rest of us.

Just remember friends don't let friends drive green!! Oh and one other thing I forgot, when its time to move up to a bigger or newer machine, the orange one will sell faster and at a higher price then the green one,, just MHO

Skeets said a mouthful of excellent points and was right on with his assessment of the BX,

I watched the video too - and when the first topic is that the engine idles 500 rpms less, really - thats the best point? It is like saying that GMC's black paint is shinier than Fords......

Looking at the pedals - I believe that Kubota got it right moving the pedals front and rear, to me it makes logical sense to move a pedal reward to go......in reverse, not everyone will agree with this but I think your less likely to hit the "wrong" pedal in a pinch or with boots on.

Lets LOOK at the engine ...........

as skeets pointed out - Kubota MAKES theirs.....big deal right? Well - yes it is....

lets look at some numbers :

The MF has a :
Iseki
diesel
3-cylinder
liquid-cooled
68.5 ci [1.1 L]

and makes 22.5 HP - max RPM is 2600 sounds nice....

The Kubota

Kubota D902
diesel
3-cylinder
liquid-cooled
54.8 ci [0.9 L]

and makes 23 HP max RPM is 3200......

so no real big difference eh? Look again.........

One engine is make 22.5 HP with a 1.1 liter, another is making more @ .9 liters.

Point being that the Kubota is going to use a lot less fuel, making more power with less engine.

And dont let the RPMs fool you - 3200 aint nutting for the Kubota - I think it sings at that RPM :D

If you want to make a bucket go up and down faster at idle .....get the MF

Before I went and bought mine ( I HAVE A MF dealer within walking distance of my house) I drove 40 minutes to go and look a Kubota.

I thought that these SCUTs were just overgrown riding mowers......until I sat on one, jeeez what a f.....tank! This thing is a MaCHine!

After talking to people that have a Kubota for ......30+ years and seeing the shape it is in (beat to hell and back) and then asking what they have replaced on it...... tires and engine oil ( hell this guy has over 3000 hours on a 86 model and never replaced the hydraulic oil!)

My money is on the Kubota - world wide reputation of tough as nails machine.

And once you buy/own a kubota ............ONLY then will you see what I mean!:D:)

Being my first SCUT, the pedals were hard to get used too, but after a few months it becomes second nature. Ive used the competition SCUTs and have it the wrong pedal, being side be side and lack of experience, easily done.

For me it was the dealership and support, for later: replacement parts, upgrades and knowledge.

JD, New Holland and Kubota.
JD was more money. They had a little shop. Not much inventory to look at.
New Holland was the closet and in my town. If they went out of business the next dealerships was hours away, last i checked.
Kubota had a few dealerships in the area to chose from. Quite a bit of inventory to look at. Helped determine which line to go with. Already familar with the dealership since they are also a Polaris dealer too. So also with Kubota's reputation, thats what I got. Glad I did.

I tried a few different brands when I bought mine . All the rest didn't even come close in real life comparison . A lot of good threads on here relating to that .

when I started looking, I first went to green. All my uncles farm and ranch equipment was green. I learned to drive green ( and a cat crawler) It looks like you have done your research and know what size and models to compare, so go play with them. I only really looked at two Deere and Kubota. Green to me, was jerky and very 60's robotic and mechanical feeling, where the Kubota was smooth and fluid. To me it was the difference in getting in my 72 Ford 4x4, than driving my new King Ranch 4x4. I haven't heard many bad comments about a Kubota, and I wear my K hat proudly. It needs to fit you. drive it, work the controls, it will sell its self. You need to get the feel of it, and let that sell you. If you don't get rid of it, resale is not a factor, but, if you ever want to, Kubota's are sought after tractors. You can sell a loaded name brand for more $$ and easier than the cheaper off the wall model, and Chinese equipment looses its shine pretty quickly. my .02 worth. I drive a BX25D with a grin on my face :)

In '07 I bought a new bx24 with FEL and BH. I wanted a small tractor because I have so many trees on my property. Every time I get on that tractor it still amazes me at what it can do. It has 587 hrs on it now, and no problems whatsoever. It is the best investment I have ever made. I say investment because with the resale value of kubota's it's almost like money in the bank.
(not that I would ever sell it). You can't go wrong with a kubota. :)

Flienlow, I based my decision on what I had been reading on this site.......my BX25D is being preppes as we speak. Likely have it delivered this week although they are waiting for delivery of the snowblower to the dealer before they drop it all at my place. They invited me to the dealer yard for a Kubota BX25 school for the purpose of hands-on learning of how to drop and install the FEL & BH, fluid change and greasing locations info and a host of other info. They said to expect to spend a couple of hours doing so. It's all based on my comfort level. Sounds stupid but I'm taking my wife as she has high interest in being able and independent to manage the precesses herself after I'm gone. If you'd like I will keep you posted regarding how I do with the machine.

I own and have owned many, many Kubota machines over the last 25 years. I rent them to just about anyone. I have found Kubota to be the best when it comes to being rental resistant. People break them but they seldom break themselves. If I need a machine and Kubota makes one, I don't even consider another brand. When you leave Kubota, you are going downhill.

When I bought my BX24 I looked at both green and Kubota. First I couldn't justify to myself let alone the lovely Wifey-Poo the extra cost associated with the green model. At about the same time I remembered while working underground in the mines here in North Idaho there were several Kubota pieces of equipment there a couple stuck out to me because there was an RTV that was ABUSED period and always asked for more and a modified mini track hoe that was parked and forgotten for about 2 years when it was discovered again the only thing we had to do in order to start and run it was to jump the battery. I can tell you I am very happy with my BX24. It works hard, sips fuel, very user friendly and comfortable. As I'm sure you can tell I'm very happy with my choice :D

Great input thanks, I will say though, I am not finding the BX25 to be an inexpensive tractor. In fact, I think it is one of the more expensive ones for what you get. I am still painfully deciding between red and Orange. Not quite sure yet.

I'm gonna say the opposite of that , the orange IS very INexpensive FOR WHAT you get ..........over the duration that the MACHINE is used!

LOOK at the longevity of the reds and the greens..........

cost per year .............ORANGE is cheap..........

then again it is YOUR money!:)

All I can do is tell you I went through the same thing . Bought orange and I'm sooo glad I did ! In the last two evenings after work this what that little workhorse has done . Last night went to the farmer down the road and buried a calf and cow. Tonight , my culvert at the end of my drive was plugged with frozen gravel . Dug it out and flowing now . And graded my 450' driveway again . So what I'm trying to say is that little bugger will do a lot for you and you will feel safe and confident while you do it . Your choice but I would definitely choose orange .
