I thought the tractor was in neutral ( both levers) but the engine died when I stood up. When I tried to restart it wouldn't turn over. Looking closer, I saw that the range lever wasn't truly in neutral. The outside shift arm is out of the shift lever notch and I can't get it to move back into alignment with the other arm or the notch. Any ideas? I tried rocking the tractor but no luck. Pulled it back to the barn with the clutch in.

Happened to mine once. The leaver got into a bind between H & L range. I got a large screw driver down there and pried it free. Has been fine since.

In the mid 90s, I had a tractor that did the same thing pretty often. I don't remember the model but Kubota sent me an upgraded shift mechanism that fixed the problem. As I recall, they had welded an extension to the fork. I'm sorry for being so vague but the tractor was about the size of yours. Your parts man might be able to fill in the blanks.

Stevense,

Check your clutch tension/linkage settings if you have a manual. Sometimes the linkage can get out of whack if you clobbered something. It may even need some lubrication. Tap lightly on the linkage also with a small rubber hammer. Then try having someone tap on the shift lever linkage while you put the clutch in/out. Hopefully you can "Fonzy" it into position.
