In this article we take a look at the correct part numbers for authentic Kubota paint, how much paint you might need for an average sized project and which parts of your Kubota are painted which color. This information is very handy if you ever want to tackle a bit of a restoration on sun-faded pair of fenders or color match your implements or your towing trailer to your Kubota.

Acrylic Enamel Paint
All of Kubota’s paint is acrylic enamel. This type of paint has the “gloss” built into it, and does not need several layers of clearcoat applied over top of the colored base coat like automotive finishes do. Since it has this property we call it a single stage paint. Acrylic enamel paints also tend to be a thicker covering paint when compared to their base-coat-clear-coat counterparts so not as many applications are required to get a deep color and shine.

Kubota paint is packaged one of three ways: in a spray can, quart tin or gallon tin. Paint from the spray can is ready to use right away, but if you plan on applying paint from a quart or gallon tin using your own spray setup, you’ll need to also pre-mix the paint with a reducer before use – more on that further down.

Kubota Orange – 2 of Them
Kubota actually has two shades of orange available. One is known as Orange Enamel and the other, newer shade, is Bright Orange II. Orange Enamel was used by Kubota in the early days of the B and L series – think L175, L185, B6000 or B7100 here (actually some Kubotas like the L200 were green when they first came over from Japan!). Bright Orange II is used on more modern Kubota equipment and when compared to the original orange, has a bit more “red” in it. You’ll find this new orange on the RTV, Grand L series, new MX and so on.

Where to Apply
Kubota’s orange paint is applied on the body sheet metal and wheels*, that is:

• 2 fenders
• 1 hood
• 1 instrument panel
• 4 wheels

*The wheels are actually painted white on Kubota’s gray market tractors, and painted orange along with hood, fenders and so on for North American models.

How much do I need?
The part numbers listed above are for spray cans. 5 spray cans of either orange will cover a B series Kubota with all coats needed. 6 cans will cover an L series.

Kubota Blue
Everyone knows that Kubota’s main color is orange but sometimes we forget that the sidekick color is blue.

Where to Apply
Blue is used on anything that is not body sheet metal, ROPS or wheels. Things like:

• transmission
• engine block
• rear axle differential
• 3 point hitch

How much do I need?
If you are using Blue from a tin, a quart is actually all that’s need to cover even a good sized L series. If you purchase Blue in a spray can, plan on using 4 cans for a B series and 5 cans for an L series.

Kubota Dark Grey

Part Numbers

• Dark Grey (spray can) #70000-00210

Where to Apply
Kubota paints their ROPS in Dark Grey. Their newer model MX series also uses this paint color instead ot the Blue listed above for things like the transmission housing, engine block, hitch and so on.

How much do I need?
If you have a ROPS, 1 spray can is plenty.
