A little backstory first....
This machine belongs to a city not far from me and is scheduled to be auctioned off in March of next year.
It shows only 195 hours on it, the machine appearance is great overall, tires are excellent too.

Operator let it run hot enough to blow the radiator tank and actually burn his leg.

It still cranks and runs fine as it sits right now.

I was just wondering if anyone knows what kind of internal damage the D1305 might have encountered in this situation.

Head gasket, thermostat, or worse?

Any input or past experience is appreciated.

Cracked head would be my major concern because c thatcwont be obviius. T G at said engines survive over heating all the time and suffer no long lasting problems if they are not run totally dry.
