So I had a hydro just quit pulling recently. I was able to remove the final drive and hydro right side, without having to remove the fenders, roll bar, fuel tank exc. Took about 1 hour to remove it all thru the wheel well.
After disassembly I was greeted by the parts explosion below. It looks like the snap ring under the spring may have come loose and chewed up some parts. Luckily my pump, motor, and housing were not damaged. I had thought the only option was a total new hydro. But Messick's had all the parts in stock to repair and I only dropped $153. total to get back up and running. About two hours to rebuild the hydro and an hour to reassemble the mower.
