I have a BX2680 with a 55" snowblower. The joystick on right controls up/down and left/right.
I do not have a 3rd function on my tractor to control the chute deflector.
I see an available electric actuator that some have used for the deflector. Any ideas on a switch and wiring harness?
Thanks

N.Y,
I had my rotator wired on my bx but it was dedicated to that with hard wiring and switches. Just moved it to another tractor and decided to make it wireless. Bought a 12 volt wireless board with remote and relays on Amazon. Put it in a plastic ammo box mounted to the snowblower along with a 6ah Milwaukee m18 battery to run the remote and winch motor. Just have a little push button remote in the tractor cab. Works good. Just recharge the battery every month. Milwaukee m18 batteries are rated down to about zero degrees for discharge but must be warmed to recharge.

You can use a
Momentary Polarity Reverse Switch
switch

If you mount it up and not upside down put a rubber motorcycle shock cover over it to keep the water out or it won't last long.
Seal the top end of the cover and let the bottom float.

I bought one of those ubiquitous 12v linear actuators and while it worked, found it wasn't strong enough to pull down the chute against a flow of snow in use (had to stop blowing while adjusting it downwards). So then I bought a more powerful one and while it had enough power, it was s-l-o-w in use. I tried a couple of different options in various stroke lengths, speeds and rated force. Pick any two -- Turns out they all have the same motor and are just geared differently.

Then I found a used school bus stop arm linear actuator on eBay. Fast, powerful and as an added bonus attraction: already weatherproof. Also comes with integral limit switches at either end of the stroke.

As for wiring, pick the switch and mount of your choice. Wire it though a pair of relays rated for the motor power (horn relays work nice). Then supply the circuit with a resetable circuit breaker instead of a fuse. That way you won't have to change fuses if the chute becomes jammed with ice and snow.

yes, generally speaking with linear actuators there's a tradeoff of torque vs speed, though you can buy fast/torky LAs.
I solved the speed problem by installing a DC-DC 'booster' and giving the LA about 20 volts.

Mine works fine on a BX, specially in the city where I wouldn't want it moving any faster.
Out in the country with a larger tractor it could be different.
I should have clarified I am talking about blowing deep, heavy snow or re-blowing snow. The lighter duty units work fine in lighter conditions.
