OTT brain trust, may I call you, not gray matter, but 'orange matter?'😀 I use USAA for homeowner's and auto insurance. Until the past decade or so they were good, but have declined significantly IMHO. They referred me to Traveller's Tractor. The site says plans start at $300/yr for tractors and implements <15yo, so just 2yrs left for 'meBota.' My concerns are knocking down the neighbor's fence on top of them, theft/vandalism, and breaking my own stuff, including the tractor. The first two might be covered under homeowner's. What insurance do you have and why, who provides it, and how much does it cost? Safe tractoring, Mike

I carried a rider on my farm (or homeowners) insurance to cover everything in my barns against fire and theft. Quite reasonable.

Not sure where one would find insurance against one's negligent use once any loans are paid.

don't pay off the loan ????? claim hard times, extend the loan, 'refinance' it like others do their mortgages ?

I have 3 tractors.

Homeowners will include personal liability to a set amount. Farm Bureau says any lawn equipment is covered by my home owners but I would have to provide serial numbers, descriptions, and values for any tractors or implements. If anything happens to the bota I'm gonna claim it's lawn tractor. Everything else is too old to be concerned about.

We use Main Street America (MSA) for home and auto. They beat USAA by several hundred a year.
Insurance companies pay out for negligence all the time. Wreck your car because you dropped your Ho-Ho while speeding on the interstate? Paid. Burned your house down because you flicked a roach into the mulch? Paid. Punch a hole in your hand because you didn't check the chamber before cleaning your rifle? Paid.

Let me know what your homeowner's insurance company says when you file a claim after driving your tractor into the pond.

That is some colorful damage claims, I can only hope you didn't have any of those happen!

Kubota Does not classify a LX as a lawn tractor so you very unlikely to be covered.

Someone is blowing smoke somewhere, and it's a not in your face.
Unless you have a specific policy, rider, or umbrella they will not pay for tools or tractors.

1. Who do I use? Farm Bureau: both coverage for tractor, select implements (I insure stuff such as my chipper but not the 90 year old root rake that looks like a high school welding project), AND on/off premises liability.

2. Aside from a few products inapplicable to this discussion such as Federal flood, ocean marine, etc. insurance coverages vary quite a bit from state to state, particularly for items such as equipment which is quite often insured on forms that aren’t even as “standard” as the ISO Homeowner forms used by many states.

This is a state by state question, not a national or international question. You really need advice from an agent in your state who is experienced insuring equipment and who has a good understanding what you’re doing with it (business, personal, some of both) and where (restricted to a single premises, a couple of specific premises, or a wide variety of places.) Not saying you need to insure everything you have to the maximum possible, but you should have a good understanding of your coverage before you have a claim, not after.

With all respect to others here, if you get a specific answer regarding coverages from someone here, I suggest taking it with a grain, or maybe a tablespoon, of salt unless they reside in the same state where you reside and use their equipment in the same manner you use yours, or are a competent insurance professional in your state.

I DO have an umbrella policy,.....$250, 000
No smoke here !!!
Had a $240,000 fire in 1987,
USAA paid for my 7,000 pound garage lift, 1800 RPM Onan generator, radial saw, Miller welder, and MUCH more!

I did say UNLESS you have an Umbrella, as that does cover everything. 😉

Maybe the Ho- Ho 😳
Regarding what you said in post 10: Some companies, like the one I use, use the HP of the machine. The cut off on mine is 30. Then it's considered agricultural equipment.
I did the last one, 😣 🥺
Punch a hole in your hand because you didn't check the chamber before cleaning your rifle?
Well, I was seven, it was a BB gun pistol with a really poorly designed cocking mechanism under the barrel and if your thumb slipped off of it while cocking the gun would go off and your pointer finger ended up in the path of the BB.
One day I was really glad that I didn't have it cranked up or using pellets!
