I'm coming up on my 400 hour service and am wondering if there are any uses for the used hydraulic fluid other than just taking it to the recycle center,

How much? I’m about to service my machines and I’ll have close to 20 gallons.

Treating boards on trailers, spraying it on implements as a rust prevention. Burning stumps. Or keeping it to run in another machine or to have to flush the system if ever needed.

I believe it will be around 5-6 gallons between the hydraulics and the front axle. Sort of wondering if it could be used for bar oil.

A quick search looks like it’s used for that all the time. Would help to have an adjustable oiler on the saws though.

too 'thin' for chainsaw bar oil. no t 'sticky' enough.

you can of course filter it and reuse it.
yeah, I have my flak jacket on BUT I'm running a 30 year old CC rider and it's HST oil has never, ever been changed. I'll lay odds 99.44% of HSTs in rider,ZT,etc don't get their oil changed

Not straight - it's too thin. In the winter I run it 50/50 with regular bar lube.

I change the HST oil in my ZT because it is called for in the manual. BUT then I am in the .56% that actually reads the manual.
