I'm about to trade in my b2601 for a L2502.
I have r14 tires on the b2601 and they're good. But not so much in mud or in snow.

So I'm considering getting industrial tires and the l2502. Would it make a big difference in mud and in snow? Would I still need chains in snow? If I still need chains then I'll just go with r14 again

Big difference but in the wrong direction... they would suck more so...

You can groove the tread of R4/industrial and make them better but I just don't have experience with R14 to say if they are better/worst...

My Ford 1210 has R1 tires and it does OK in what little mud I've been in, and they do well in snow. I've had a B7500, l3200 and now an L4240 all with R4's. There's no reason for me to go anywhere muddy since we now have grass or blacktop everywhere, but I'd think the R1's would do much better. They do very well in snow after grooving them.

I've read good comments on the R14's and am surprised you aren't happy with them in the snow.

I'm not happy with them in the snow but nothing is perfect. So maybe they are the best but I can't compare.

I had industrials on my bx23s, and I dont remember having issues in the snow. But different tractor.

R4s are not good in slick snow on my L2501. Plan on chains.
Someone posted a photo of the new R4s that Kubota offers now. They are grooved and look like they would work much better in snow. The OP should investigate if those are being offered for the L2502.

I have the "newer" r4's on my 3902. Spins on wet grass.

I have a L2501 with the"old" style R4 tires and have never needed chains when plowing. I do have a weight box on it. I am looking at trading for a L2502 and will get the new style R4 tires on it.

R1's have way more bite than R4's. I don't have a need for chains either.
R1's are not nice to lawns though.

My M6060 with R1 tires is way better in snow than the MX with R4s. When I need to pull a neighbor's car or truck out of a snow filled ditch, it's the M that I use. The increased ground clearance of the M helps, as does the extra weight, but there's no comparison between the tires and their ability to get traction in snow.

The MX and R4s work fine in every other situation, so it's a case of using the right tool for the job.
