So I keep running into low branches and have cracked the front of the sun shade canopy and some of the plastic gutter has broken off. [emoji853] This is the standard Kubota part.

Any suggestions on repair or more importantly reinforcing the front?

I was thinking of using some PVC pipe along the front channel and a lot of epoxy. Or maybe something like FiberFix to give some protection.

Thanks!

might need to lay in some fiberglass mat to help all round too. ;):)

PVC pipe will hold up for a bit then it will break too.
Consider urethane rubber and rubber welting or a split hose.
That will protect and cushion the front edge from more hits. ;)

I rebuilt one from my family (they got the new one and I was left with the cleanup duty, somehow...) using childrens clay for a mold and 2-part epoxy with fiberglass tape.

Cut away the loose pieces to get down to solid fiberglass:

Pressed the clay against the straight section of canopy to get the general bend structure, then carefully peeled the clay off and reapplied around the corner of the canopy.

Lay in ample epoxy and fiberglass tape:

Sand and smooth, ready for paint:

Had to do 3 out of the 4 corners, this one was the worst by far. There was no vertical for about 11 inches one way and 4-5 inches the other way. What you see is total reconstruction using the clay as the mold (from the outside)

At the back of my roof are hooks where I carry my soft sided cooler for
Water, also I used to carry a couple of chains hanging there until a friend
Of my son told him that was a good way to get killed???????

I found out that if I carry the big clippers I cam get rid of the low ones and the big one I went with the saw and removed everything that hit the ROPS..

Great repair!

My tractor had seen a mobile home axle dropped on the roof and hood. The roof was cracked but I drove it that way for a year until I had time to repair it. The flexing over time spread the crack back further yet.

I called here in Phoenix where one of the subs that makes Kubota shades is situated. They have "repaired" lids for $350 plus shipping. New ones were $575. I spent $30 on resin and cloth and got mine repaired in a few days work. I found fiberglass work was actually kind of fun. Just be sure to wear a mask when sanding or grinding it.

The front edge was bashed and the roof was cracked 2/3 of the way to the rear...

I chucked the edging/moulding after the fiberglass work. To hide the repair, I shot the inside with plastic undercoating spray. Sure looks a lot better and its hasn't cracked in two years since repair.
