Have read all posts and watched videos about removing the lower bearing race in a B7100 (and other models) steering box. Tried all methods with no luck. Finally dropped a 1/2 inch carriage bolt in the race, tack welded with a MIG welder (stick and steady hand would work), placed nut and washer on top and used as a puller. Race came out with two turns of nut. Welds aren’t pretty and not very sound but all that was needed to remove.

Use the welder to run a cold bead around the face on the race and you won't need the puller part. The weld will shrink the OD of race as it cools and it will fall out. The bead does not need to be pretty or particularly deep. I use that technique on a regular basis and it works like a charm.

Old thread but this is genius. I couldn't get the steering cup out for anything, then ran a crappy bead around the rim with a stick welder and it popped right out. What corrosion?
