Snowblower - 10hp, electric and recoil start
Splitter - 6hp, recoil start only.
Assuming the hydraulic pump will match up to the bigger engine, any down side to moving to the bigger engine from the recoil start engine?

Snowblower engines do not typically have an air filter on them so you would need to do something for a filter.

Good points - I'll check the shaft of the engine and the shaft of the hyd pump. May need a new coupling. Fitting an air filter should not be a problem, I'd think.

if it's a 'normal' engine, it should have 'mounting' for air cleaner, just lookup a 'regular' engine, same make/model.....
if the coupling is a 'Lovejoy type', only need engine side......$10 ?

You can buy a 6.5HP Predator engine new at Harbor Freight starting at $149.99. If you have to buy stuff to modify the snow blower engine, you might be just as well to buy the new Predator engine.

hmm.. most(99.44%) of all 'snowblower engines will have 120VAC (line voltage) electric starters. Fine if you're near the garage, might need a looooooong extention cord back in the bush ?
