Has anyone used their PTO hook up ? I have a PTO Link but I still have issues with my B2601 since I have had hand surgery. This looks easier but wanted thoughts from a guy who used it. I just can’t turn that PTO link to lock it in.

No, I have never used either of those things.

Have you cleaned the PTO LINK of dirt and debris?

I would get a “spud wrench” similar to one of the three shown below and use that to turn the implement PTO shaft to get the pin to align. Then you could get it into the hole of the second pin (that has to be manually inserted) to align that hole also. I think they sell something similar at auto parts stores but just a tapered bar.

You would probably need to lift some implements off of the ground to get their PTO shaft to rotate

One of the handiest tools to have on a tractor is one of those old jack handles, 15" long with a bend and the straight end is tapered. Pain it red, white or orange so you don't lose it in the grass.

Not being able to turn the PTO to get it lined up to lock in is not a particularly unusual problem on the tractor side if your tractor has a PTO brake that’s working well. It’s also not highly usual on the implement side depending on the type and size of the implement; some are easy to turn, some near impossible.

If that’s your only problem, maybe consider a PTO wrench:

It’s a lot cheaper than putting a quick connect on all your PTO implements if you just need some leverage to rotate the PTO.

As others have suggested, a metal bar of some sort stuck through the U joint on the implement usually provides enough leverage to move the implement side, but personally, I’ve found it difficult to turn the implement side of the equation precisely with a bar while also trying to slide it on the tractor PTO.

Great advice on painting it orange. I have several items painted orange for that exact reason.
I'm a slow learner some times. I hooked up a disc mower and later couldn't find my "special" pry bar. I looked and looked for that thing and still haven't found it. That was six years ago!! The next one I painted white. By the way, they are getting harder to even find at the salvage yard.

That same company (PTO LINK) also sells a wrench and a sling to help align and install the driveline shaft. The wrench is offset to reach back behind the tractor half of the coupler.

On my B2650, if I put the PTO selector in "both" (middle and rear) WITH THE TRACTOR OFF, OBVIOUSLY I find I can turn the rear PTO shaft between 1/8 and 1/4 turn which is usually enough to line up the splines.

The rotary tiller is the hardest to align for me. But, if I attach the tiller without attaching the PTO shaft, I can use the 3-point lift to lift the tiller slightly up which gets the tines free which allows the shaft to turn freely. Once the tiller is up, shutting off the tractor lets me proceed safely. I would think that would work for other implements, too, such as a bush hog.

Painting it white means you're not in country that deals with tractors and SNOW.
Blaze orange is the best.
