I saw this on Tractor Mike's channel and thought I'd share it.
I'm starting to use my tractor a lot now that it's all back together and well, I'd like to keep it and ME together!

I watched the video - lots of good stuff in there too - Mike is a common sense guy too - I really like his ability to cut through the crap and get to the meat and potatoes!

One thing I will add - when loading on a trailer, build some compression blocks to place on either side of the drop down gate. I made a pair out of 2x10's like an upside down T, they has been going on 15 years, worn but still usable. Most "newer" trailers have them installed with a drop down leg.

The guy who delivered my BX25D in 2013 did it on a single axle - I was shocked and sure enough when he backed it down HIS TRUCK's rear end came off the ground.

I was using a pair of cheap jack stands until I got one of these "brake pedal depressing tools"

The tool stores much nicer than the jack stands.

Note to self: Make sure you leave enough gap between the compression block and trailer frame to account for the "sag" of the trailer when loaded. ....Hahahha......If not, you will "trap" the compression block and have to unload your tractor to get it out......Ask me how I know this......:D

A few decades ago I had a device known as a "Micro Lock" on my truck. When you depressed the brake pedal and then pulled down on this lever, it would lock all 4 wheels securely. I just checked and they are still manufactured, however, they are a more modern product today. Below is the link to the various products that they manufacture.

Ahh no just locked the front wheel brakes up before you side stepped the clutch

I put a "mico-lok" on my 1972 International 1210 4x4 Travelall.
I needed it to hold that 1210 brute from sliding backward down a slippery salt water boat ramp.
It worked great!
My Intl. 1210 is long gone, but the mico-lok is still in my barn.

I use jackstands under the back of the trailer and block the trailer wheels when loading. Nothing odd there.

I also carry a jack tall enough to reach the back of the trailer so I don’t have to unload if I mess up and trap the jackstands with the loaded trailer squat (like that would ever happen 🙂). And since I’m generally towing with a 4WD pickup I put it in 4WD when loading as a backup just so it won’t freewheel if everything fails and the back of the truck lifts. Might still jack knife but it ain’t going far.

Seen too many truck/trailer/equipment combos at the bottom of a hill to not be a little over cautious. That and I don’t tow the tractor often, so efficiency isn’t of much importance.

In other words, measure your fully-loaded clearance beneath the trailer back frame and subtract an inch or so, and use that measure to build the compression blocks.

Just drive truck and trailer forward or reverse, blocks will fall over. Easy peasy.
