Removing water from BX25 wheels

I bought a used BX25 recently and just realized that the tires have been filled with water or some sort of fluid. Since I really don't know what the fluid is and I don't think I really need the extra weight, I was thinking about draining it. Do I have to break the bead to get the fluid out or is possible to drain through the schrader value?

Jack it up turn the wheels so the valve stem is at 6 O'clock remove the valve stem and let it drain, though on another note why are you worried about whats in the wheels ? And yes you do need the weight if you have a FEL on it, also pushing snow, yes maryland gets snow, and on hills. Don't look for problems where there aren't any

Because I have no idea what is in the wheel. It could be straight water for all I know. This summer, its not a big deal, but come next winter, that could be a problem.
OK steve how old is the tractor, what year? Odds are it is not just water, but maybe beet juice or rim guard or windshield fluid. Did you get it from a dealer or a seller, or find it along the road,,, see what I am asking? And even if it is just water the only thing, if it froze, would give you a bumpy ride until it thawed out. But it is your little piece of heaven, and draining it like I said will remove what ever is in there . Have fun and welcome to the orange

Maybe just drain a cup full out and check to see what it is? If it's not just plain water, then you could just leave it in. If you're really paranoid about it, put the cup full that you drain into your freezer overnight.

I was just about to make the same post. I just picked up a BX 2370 which has front and rear tires filled. Owners manual does not recommend front tires to be filled. As I do not know what the tires have been filled with I too want to drain at least the front. Its is my understanding that some fills are corrosive. Both front tires leak and the the rim of the wheels seems to be corroding or both sides have been rubbed on curbs?

In both cases, I suggest complete tire removal from rim.
While in the 1st case it 'sounds' like just water, could also be WW fluid. WHY take the chance. Do a proper tear down, inspection, then decide IF you need weight, what works BEST for you as there are other options than 'liquid in tires'.
In the 2nd case, sounds like Calcium ( salt) causing the corrosion. Again proper tear down, CLEAN until the finger lick test is good, THEM decide IF you need 'weight in the rear wheels' and what option is BEST for you.

I agree. Do what's best for you. Filled tires would not work for me even though I have one of the smallest compact tractors.

My lawn is clay based and does not drain well. Right now I can leave foot prints in the 50% of my mowed lawn, just shy of 2 acres, just by walking on it. We have springs that come down off a hill (small mountain) so it doesn't dry out until the end of April early May. Swells and drainage has helped some.

I have two old 50# wheel weights from a Craftsman garden tractor that bolt right on the back tires and 3pt ballast box for snow or FEL work. My neighbor has a B series he almost never uses in the summer because he had his rear tires filled and it compresses the lawn. Mows 2 1/2 acres with a small Cub Cadet garden tractor.

I agree.
Tar changin is Good fun.

PS
if you even think there is calcium in there, do not use a digital pressure gauge.... even if the valve stem is on top, the salt in the compressed air will kill the gauge....
