Just wondering if anyone has an inexpensive easy way to remove accumulated snow after using the tractor blower etc. my unit is in a heated garage and when it snows enough every day to use the unit(s) it melts and makes a small lake LOL.
I've tried a windshield scraper which is somewhat OK but is time consuming and leaves a lot behind.
Also tried compressed air which works somewhat well but again is a bit time consuming and leaves some behind.
They flat air nozzles but I'm not sure if they would work that well LINKY Another version of a nozzle LINKY 2 .
Would be nice if there was a way to heat the air compressed air 🤔

So i thought I'd ask here TIA

This is exactly why my garage is heated and has a slope and a drain across the entire front of it, no standing water.

Weed burner
Hot water hose
If it's powdery then a leaf blower.

My tractor is kept in a shed with a treated wood floor. I've used a regular gas powered pressure washer at when I was running a rear blower. That's not ideal because of frozen hoses and making a mess. In recent times I've used a DeWalt 20V pressure washer. I shortened the pickup hose and use it with a 5 gallon bucket.

The gas model was needed when I had a rear blower that got lots of buildup. The cordless is fine for getting the salt off. If there's enough snow to bring the tractor out, there's enough that I run into town. That means collecting salt on the tractor.

I often leave the tractor out for a day to drip dry(ish).

I store my tractors in a pole barn with a concrete floor that I sometimes heat. I blow my equipment off with a leaf blower before I put them inside. I still have some water in the floor when things melt. I then use a commercial 24” foor squeegee and push it out the door.

My snowblower was deeply encrusted with ice an hour after I stopped using it. The propane weed burner is a good way to melt the snow off, but you need to be careful not to burn the paint. I usually put it outside facing the sun and let nature do the work. I don't think that there is any easy way to melt the snow.

Post #2:

I just used a garden hose, and it worked, but I think the temp was in the mid 30s. (F)
I have a hot water garden hose tap available, but I didn't need it in this case.

I can think of lots of solutions with varying budgets and results. Much listed above.

Not mentioned above so If building new I would add a u-drain.

I use a broom, a small broom, and a brush to get the majority of the snow off, that's enough to not form a lake but rather a puddle, and it's quick.

I don't have a heated space. It takes a lot of short-term heat or a little long-term heat to melt snow which is why brooms are fast & easy for me. The wood broom handle breaks up ice and gets in tight spots without damaging paint if I'm not going at it like a caveman.

Which ever way you look at it , it's a nasty job especially after a long day of snow removal. This song always came to mind as soon as I walked in the door. ;)

Just another idea: get a containment tray and put it under the blower in the garage. Granted, you would have to empty it if it got full, but you wouldn't have it running on the floor. 30x60" are under $90.

Would have loved drains like yours Wolfman!

When I built my shop 22 years ago I wanted floor drains. It is on a monolithic slab too.The code guy I had was in over his head and insisted you couldn't have floor drains anymore. The truth is here they must be day lighted somewhere so they aren't just allowing say a oil spill to go unnoticed to a sewer..
The shop is on a grade about 4 ft higher than my driveway and it was not a problem to make it right but arguing with him wasn't working. So I gave up. I think of him every time I have a puddle in the garage this time of year. I have thought about ways to do it but don't want to cut and weaken the floor so I have one of those 24" squeegees.
Same fool had window size wrong for bedrooms for fire code and he discovered that after I had mine installed.
So I changed my self made plans and called the spare room an office and added one of the right size to the master bedroom.

@niw curious, why the 'gap' between the troughs ? My luck THAT is where the water would go.....
Middle of 2 doors and no water sits on the surface there.
The main reason for the break was slope on the bottom of the drains.
As it's been done no water sits in the bottom of the drains.
The guys that did my concrete are the best around.
Everything was finished perfectly, they got the slope and flats, spot on everywhere.

Yea I talked with my plumbing inspector and he said as long as during underground he could physically see that the sewer and floor drains did not connect he would be happy.
That little detail was a bear, because my main sewer leaves the house at 3 foot 6" and the floor drain was at 4' and we are on sand so it kept wanting to fill itself in before inspection.

I keep one of them on my 8N all the time. Always handy when you need a little prying to hook something up. 8N is my snow plowing tractor and it is always handy to lift the ladder style chains up on the lugs if I get to spinning on some ice and they are down between the lugs. Had that problem today. A few seconds doing that and I am moving again today. I like better chains but get by with the occasional pry bar fix.
