So I bought my 2710 tractor with MMM last year. Today I went to mow and only the center blade was spinning. I hopped off to check it all out and I can see the PTO spinning but the pulley that is right under the gear box is not spinning. It appears to have a lot of play in the pulley like it’s not seated on the shaft right or something. Anyone else have this issue? What’s the fix? I started trying to pull the gear box off but I can’t seem to get it off and I didn’t want to pull too hard on it. Any advice is appreciated.

Remove the center blade bolt, blade, and cone-shaped dust cover. There is a snap ring holding the hub onto the shaft, remove the snap ring and the hub will slide off of the shaft and the gearbox can now be lifted from the deck.

I think there was some piece holding the dust cover on. Like a large washer that I wasn’t able to get off. I’ll have to take another look at it.

So I ended up taking the deck to my local Kubota dealer. $1100 to fix it. I guess the previous owner never did any maintenance to it over the last 20 years. At that price I might as well go buy a cheap riding mower for mowing my yard.

Spend the $1100 and have a good mower for another 20 years or buy a cheap riding mower every 3 or 4 years, Your choice.

This is an F mower at work. Like yours, the key sheared taking the pulley and shaft with it. I repaired for less than $1100. Pretty simple once everything is apart.

They sent me a diagram with a breakdown of all the parts that needed replaced. It was about 20 things. I think it was $700 in parts. I just had my second kid a couple weeks ago so I don't have the time right now to tear the thing apart and try and get it back together myself.
