Perkins injection pump.... disc?

Both of my old perkins diesels have a little disc on the front of their fuel pumps that serves some unknown purpose.... maybe a buffer? On the one engine it has failed and leakes bad but I can't replace it as I have no idea what it even is or what it does.

If no one has a clue what I'm talking about I'll get a picture...

That's a Fuel Damper. I replaced one on an old fire pump I maintained back in the day.

If I told where I got I'd be lying, It was 30+ years ago. Try Google and CAV pump damper.
