Offset Flail mower

I've hooked the hydraulic up on my flail mower to the buckets hydraulic block as I don't have rear controls. I have to hook blue line from mower to red coupler and the red line to blue coupler to get the flail mower to move left and right. If I hook red to red and blue to blue it will not operate. Acts line the line is blocked. Why?

Reason I'm asking about lines with blue to red and red to blue, if you move joystick to left mower moves right move joy stick to right mower moves left. Backwards to the way it should work.
