New man lift

I finally gave in and bought a man lift cage. I decided on the YINTATECH Forklift Safety Cage listed on Amazon. It's one step up from the real cheapies. I looked at one of the less expensive Chinese units and just couldn't do it. Of course this one is Chinese also,

It arrived today, packed well. It is constructed well with welded square tube. Nice paint job - at least for now It has adequate locking mechanisms for the corners. They also include a minimal safety harness.

There were a couple of issues. The door is not square. To close it you have to pull one side open more. Fixable with some bracing. The door latch is poor / not working correctly. That also is easily overcome with a different type of lock. No instructions but 99% assembled.

I am going to fab up a steel cable as a safety rope between it and the quick attach.

They are super handy. Looks like you got the bigger heavier version. Need to sure the door. Got to feel secure leaning over or grabbing rails for support. Lucky my wife is a good tractor operator. Added some mounting fixtures for chainsaw, polesaw and hooks for buckets.

I made mine. Really too heavy from scrapyard stuff. 650#, but strong. Can load lumber and use as saw horses. Use a chain and binder to secure to fork frame.

Nice Job Smokeydog! A little too big for my lil tractor

I like the idea for fabbing up tool holders. It is mostly going to be used for chainsaw work and (the issue that pushed me over the edge) hanging windchimes in the trees. Also plan on putting up a few bat houses.

Where we are situated there is a wind break all around the house. I hung several wind chimes recently. I can see the leaves moving around us at 10-12ft high but the chimes I hung are at 6-8ft and they aren't moving at all

I can't weld so I am going to brace that one side with some angle to straighten it up. The latch solution isn't finalized yet but will probably be some sort of round shaft sliding through the door frame and cage frame. More thinking needed here.

Looks like a very practical attachment. However, is there any concern about the possibility of a sudden hydraulic leak or the leverage causing the tractor to tip over? The manuals discourage personnel from being lifted in this way ( tractor or excavator). Am I over thinking or worrying needlessly?

Safer than standing in a bucket, pallet or most times a ladder.

Built the safety bars just it case of critical lifts. One bar will easily hold the man basket with me in it jumping up and down with the tractor off and pressure completely relieved. Two bars add to safety factor. Don’t use them all the time.
Got a KX excavator QA to SSQA adapter and used the man basket with the backhoe. Able to quickly reach places for a barn repair I couldn’t reach with the FEL. Saved considerable time and climbing from building staging.

Every year I'm going up and down a ladder putting Christmas lights on the house. This looks like it might work.
