First I would like to say thanks so much for allowing me to join this forum. I am new to kubota tractors but not tractors in general. I grew up on a farm and around tractors. We always owned open stations. I splurged today and purchased a cab M7060 and now have some buyers remorse for getting the cab when I could have saved some money on an open station. I have not took possession yet so I could still exchange for the open station. Just looking for some support for the direction I should go. Would like to everyone’s opinion.
Thanks again.

Depending on your use and the weather, a cab can be a benefit or a liability. I say liability since cabs are subject to damage by low-hanging branches, etc. If you get snow in your area, the cab is a welcome addition. I spend most of my tractor time doing snow removal so a cab was a necessity.

Thanks for the input. We do not get much snow so it is more of a luxury than a need.

My tractor is just a "play toy".

It's open station and I don't regret it at all.....However, if it gets too "hot and sticky" or too "wet and cold", I just park it in the barn, grab my drink, and go inside.

Now if I used it to do "serious work", that needed to get done, that would be an entirely different story.

I would have an "AC and heated cab" model for sure.

My next door neighbor has a "blue" cabbed model with heat and ac, because they do actual "work" with it that needs to get done.

Being comfortable has its advantages, and the older I get, the more being comfortable is worth the few pennies a month.

So I guess it depends on which category you "identify with"?

I agree totally with the getting older part! I’m nearing retirement and I do seem to enjoy comfort more these days. I run about 75 colonies of honey bees and mowing the fields around them can get interesting at times so the cab would be relief from that as well. I use that to justify it to my wife anyway.
Thanks for reply.

You won’t regret buying the cab. What you will regret is not buying the cab when it’s 95 degrees and 90% humidity when mowing. Or dusty out, drizzling, snowing and so on.

BeeMan, you wont be sorry when like BAP said 90 degrees and 98% humidity, I spent some time in Tenn so yeah.
Dad and I had at least 13 hives, back in the day nothing like what you have, what started out as a fun hobby ended up as a job. And when Dad got sick and retired well the hives went to new homes. ENjoy your cab and smile cause you aint gone get stung when you mow around them boxes :)

I've owned two open station tractors and now have two cabbed tractors. Unless you're worried about bashing the cab on something (I'm not) there is no downside to a cab other than the cost. Hot and dusty, cold and wet, raining, snowing, freezing, windy, spraying chemicals, etc., ... none of it matters when you have a cab. Not only do cabs increase productivity, I believe they're healthier too since you're not exposed to direct sunlight and many airborne pathogens that require a good mask.

I remember I was pulling the 7ft rotary cutter behind the MX6000 open station in the summer of 2021 getting dust in every nook and cranny, it was noisy, horseflies and mosquitos were biting me, and I was hot wearing a dust mask, goggles, earmuffs and a hat. I realized that there had to be a better way and so I ordered a cabbed MX6000, sold the open station and have never looked back.

I have the smaller sibling to your M7060 but with a recent tune am up to close to 90hp. The only thing I miss now is the F18/R18 since I "only" have F12/R12. Those extra couple of gear ratios do give you more options in terms of ground speed. I will say that if I ever sold the M6060 (I have no plans to do that), I would upgrade to an M5.

Congratulations on your new tractor whether you get the open station or the cabbed model. (y)

Good day. I am a fairly newBEE keeper, probably more of a bee-HAVER. Anyway Welcome to the forum.

I have multiple open stations, and allergies and sinus issues and I deal with cold weather. That being said if I have bees when my spousal unit buys the next machine it will have a cab. I don’t like running my equipment near the bees and there is not a good way to quickly put distance between me and them when they are angry / agitated. Sure I could mow in my suit(getting on and off tractor with that baggy suit on is an accident waiting to happen in itself), but I’d rather have a cab and not worry. One sting in the eye may not work out so well.

Anyway, its not my money, but I dont think there is a downside to a cab. You get what you pay for IMO. Keep trees trimmed and be aware of overheard obstacles. Other than that I think enjoy climate control. Probably much better on allergies, sinus, and general comfort IMO.

Good luck. Share some pics of the new machine back. 👍

Bingo.

One who routinely drives near and beneath trees, I did/do not buy tractors with cabs due to potential damage.

I did once buy a new NH T4050 Deluxe with cab because it was a once-in-a-lifetime deal. I later sold it after it sat in the barn nearly unused for four years. Good news: I actually made a small amount of money doing so.

That said, cabs are comfortable for those who do not use their equipment in areas where obstruction damage is possible.

A good, simple summary.

Most farmers use cabbed tractors, and by that I mean people who make a living running a farm. Of course, many will have a smaller open station for mucking out sheds and other chores, but most farmers are out in an open field pulling a plough, a seed drill, a discbine, hay rake, baler etc., with little chance of running their cab into an obstacle. When the work has to be done come rain or shine, and they're spending many hours on the tractor, a cab is the way to go. Most home owners can pick and choose when they do a job, but when you have a cab you will use your tractor more, and be far more comfortable doing it. If you want the feel of being outside on those nice days, you can open the rear window of the cab, and with the bigger tractors such as the M6060/7060 you can also open the side windows.

I'm not a farmer, but I do spend entire days pulling around a flail or rotary cutter. I did some jobs this past summer for "pocket money", and I make it clear to the customer that I can reach out a little with the flail, but I'm not going to be able to cut up to the trunk of a large tree with low hanging branches.

I'm three years in with one tractor and two and a half with the other and no damage to either cab. Yes, I'm biased and will always recommend a cab over an open station. In the winter months it's a joy to be moving snow in a warm cab, music playing, and often with sun beaming in through the glass. I can't wait for the snow to start falling.
