I just bought this thing. No idea when it was made, but it would be nice to know. After a bit of internet research the recommendations were that the best bet to find out was to contact Kubota, so I did. The guy at Kubota was nice and asked for the tractor serial number and the engine serial number. He then told me my tractor was probably made in 2005. Okay, cool, I thought.

The guy that sold the tractor to me threw in a large pile of old service invoices. So far, I've found invoices from as early as 1988. Obviously, the math doesn't check out. I have no reason to doubt that this thing was around in 1988. Obviously, I also now have no reason to trust what Kubota told me.

When I started prowling on ebay and elsewhere for a parts manual, I found that two manuals were available, one for an "old type" and one for a "new type." I would have guessed that 2005 would have been a new type, but now I am wondering if this thing isn't an old type.

So, two questions:
1. How could Kubota get this so wrong?
2. What do I have?

I've seen the info on Tractor Data. They make no mention of models beyond 1990.

I have also seen info elsewhere on the web that said that this model might have been made for some years beyond 1990. Could Tractor Data have missed this? My reason for asking is as I said, there appears to be a "new type" and an "old type."

B7200 was made from 83-90. Tractor years are based on when they were sold not when they were made. So one made in 1990 but sold in 1992 would be a 92 model. Many models would have and old and a new version. It just means in the middle of the model run they made some changes. For the most part they are still the same tractor though just have to be careful on certain parts as there may be serial number breaks with different part numbers. But even that doesn't always mean new or old won't still work.

Well someone at the dealership feed you a line of BS.
Like @Mountainman said it's somewhere in the 83-90 range.
Now if it's an old or new model there is a really easy way to tell on that model.
What engine does it have in it?
Old model will have a D850
Newer model will have a D950
The model number is stamped on the flat right next to the injection pump.
If should already have found that number.
