My M6060 is losing power when mowing after about 20 mins of the pto being engaged. I pulled the fuel line off coming from the tank to the separator and didn’t have much flow. I shot air into it and got good flow. Still didn’t work. Drained the tank, changed the filter pulled the separator off and cleaned it. No luck. Someone told me that it’s algae in the tank. It runs great until I put it under a load. I shut it down for about 30 minutes and it runs great as long as I don’t put it under a load. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also is there anything I can put in the tank to kill the algae. If that’s what it is? Thanks

Algicides have been discussed here previously you might want to try using the search feature. I believe most auto parts places and probably Amazon carry the stuff.

Someone told me that it’s algae in the tank.

Did that someone look into your tank to make that diagnosis? Was a fuel sample taken? Is that anything other than a guess?

Yes, it certainly could be algae in your tank. Might just be a leaf floating around that blocks your tank's outlet. Might be a few things.

You do have classic fuel starvation symptoms, so the fuel system is certainly the first place to look, including checking to see if you have algae in your fuel.

I don't know your particular tractor, but some of these beasts have two fuel filters. You might want to check on that.

BillyC, I am having a very similar problem with my M6060, the only difference is the length of time under load before the condition occurs. I can only run approx. 7 minutes before it starts losing power. After idling the engine, it runs rough (likely missing). After it rests for 30 minutes or so it will perform again for 7 minutes or so. Runs great as long as it's not under a load. Let me know if you find you issue and I will share what I find as well. Thanks.

Check your fuel delivery to the fuel shut off valve. Disconnect the line there, get a container (a small glass jar will do) and turn your key on to see how much flow you have.

Let us know!

I haven’t got it figured out yet. It just seems to me that when I shut it down and everything cools off it will run fine for 20 mins. and do it again. It’s so frustrating.
