I like to check an error code on my M108X. I did ask the dealer but he said he requires that the tractor is brought to the shop. Due to distance and time, this is not really an acceptable solution to me, also because I like to solve this on my own and like to be able to check future errors on my own.

I understand the system is not OBD2 compatible? Is this correct?

I do have a list of the codes, and I have a copy of the service manual for the V3800 CRS engine, but not for the M108X as a whole.

Is there a way to check the error code without the Kubota service tool, that to my knowledge only a dealer has and would anyway cost both arms and a leg?

Thanks

First thing to do is get the WSM for your tractor it will cover a whole mess of issues and if there is a way to read codes or understand them it should be in the WSM. ;)
