Lynch pin instead of snap rings? - BX 3 Point Hitch

Got my BX 3 Point Hitch from the dealer and put it together this morning for the first time.
The left and right lift rods are attached using "snap rings". Any reason why I could not replace those with a correctly sized lynch pin?
I can see that the snap ring is going to be a bit more secure, but it is also more of a pain to put on and remove.

Thanks

Martin

Martin - - had to go out and look at my older BX.

By "Snap Rings", do you mean these things? I'm not sure what they're called either.... ;)

My lift links attach at the bottom with a pin and cotter pin.

I use lynch pins…agree with you that they are easier to install and remove.

I don’t see an issue, but would caution that all lynch pins are not created equally.

If the clasp fails, could be a mess.

These are both same size. Black one is more stout and has much more clamping force. Difference is $1-2.

Those black ones are AWESOME but keep your fingers out of the way when closing them - or you might say a bad word or two!

I'm confused. I've only had my tractor for three years now and have never taken off the lift arms or any part of the 3 pt. off. Except for maintenance why would I want to? Just asking to expand my limited knowledge.

Oh, I know what they're called, but I just came on this forum and don't want to get kicked off. 😂 I would call them a spring ring.

I have the pto powered GCK60-23BX Grass Catcher for my BX1870-1, this version does not use the 3-point hitch, some variations do. In order install it the 3-point hutch must be removed.

On my B2650 when I put the backhoe on I’ve got to take the 3PH off

On my BX23S I have to take off the 3-point to use the backhoe.

And originally I called them "Snap Rings" because that is what it called them in the instructions.

you can use a lynch pin to secure a clevis pin. if your using lynch pins just be sure it will fully close and stay closed in all orientations. you shoildnt use these as a load bearing pin
