Im working on a L3901HST that is throwing a P2294 code. This code doesnt show up in the service manual, google search says it has to do with the rail pressure limiter opening, or something to do with fuel pressure.
I have
installed new rail
checked rail sensor circuit, no voltage drop on power or signal wire
removed scv, no metal shavings. has 3 ohms between pins, which is in spec. no voltage drop on power wire
checked for air in fuel, none
havent sent the injectors off yet

It is also blowing main ecu fuse, which i believe to be cause by the HST neutral switch

I have tried calling the 6 closest dealers, 3 of them were no help, and i cant even get the other 3 to pick up the phone. most ridiculous thing ive ever seen. called kubota corp and they said they dont have a tech assistance line.

As far as I know, there is no rail pressure limiter circuit. Dont see one in the schematic. I would have to remove the tank to double check, definitely not a sensor on the other side of the rail.

Is the P2294 a hard code that needs to be reset by a laptop? It comes right back with key on after trying to clear with the "a" and "b" switches.

Or is this just a bad ECU? Im hesistant to throw one at it without a little bit of reassurance.

I think you need to have a dealer read the computer and give you a proper diagnosis.

As North Idaho Wolfman stated, you will need the dealer's assistance for this DTC. Without all of the DTCs and a system analysis, you will get nowhere real fast.

P2294 Troubleshooting Process

Purpose: To provide troubleshooting assistance with P2294 Open Circuit of harness or coil in PRV line.

Scope: Provide operational theory and process to troubleshoot the fault code.

Theory: When trouble code P2294 sets, it means that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a malfunction in the control circuit of the fuel pressure regulator. The error sets after 8 or more times of the failure. P2294 should never occur without the existence of a separate issue and/or error code on the unit that has repeatedly caused the common rail fuel pressure to rise higher than normal. It is advised to troubleshoot the root cause of the high rail pressure to prevent damage to the new common rail
assembly. See below for the common issues and steps taken to determine issues that can cause high rail pressure. Anytime that error P2294 populates, per the diagnosis manual, the common rail assembly must be replaced due to a compromise of the pressure limiter valve on the rail. Once the rail assembly has been replaced, the “P/L Valve Opening Counter Reset” must be performed via Diagmaster before the P2294 code will clear. This can be found by connecting Diagmaster to the unit, selecting the “Utility” tab on the left, then selecting the function in the list given.

Troubleshooting: NOTE: If other codes are present, they should be diagnosed before beginning, or in conjunction with, this troubleshooting. (P0088 and P0089 are commonly set in conjunction with P2294)

I. Perform data monitor to verify that SCV/PCV is operating properly by monitoring: Target Rail Pressure, Actual Rail Pressure, Target SCV/PCV Current, and Actual SCV/PCV Current (Verify each actual data follows target data respectively)

a. The SCR/PCV are a common failure that leads to high rail pressure. If SCV/PCV codes are found, check the following
b. Check the fuel system for contamination
c. Check the fuel filters to confirm they are factory and clean
d. Check the Water Separator to confirm it is maintained properly and clean of water and debris

Thank you for providing the answer I needed! Of the 3 service managers I spoke to, the closest to an answer i got was, "It has something to do with the prv, whatever that is"

All any of them needed to do was log into Kubota Link and type in P2294 Troubleshooting Process, like I just did.
