Anyone have a workaround for replacing the positive battery post connection without buying the $80 positive cable assembly?

those are good alternatives and will work, I should add that I take the old cable and use my hydraulic crimp tool to put a good lug on the old cable with marine grade shrink tube. redid all the cables on my 2500 Dodge ram diesels batteries. and used the military grade hummer terminals. just to add to the story.

That cable is not a normal cable as it has a second lead connection.
If your not wanting to alter the tractor wiring you need to get a stock cable.
If you alter the stock wiring you could then use a generic cable.
It's a $66 not $80.
