Hi All,

I have a 2009 L3400 with only about 500 hrs., used for mowing about 15 acres...

I've just replaced the lift pump, for the fourth time. The last pump lasted only 4 weeks.
I know that something is killing the pump, but not sure what to check next.

Story is always the same. When I replace the pump, the tractor fires up and runs perfectly.
After using, it is stored for a few weeks, then won't start.
I have good flow from the tank to the filter and the filter is clean.
I've also changed the brand of diesel used in the tractor just in case of bad gas.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks...

lift pumps are dirt simple in design and construction. They rarely fail. And when they do, normally the diaphragm ruptures and allows fuel into the crankcase. Multiple pump failing is almost unheard of. What is failing within the pump? Is the lever worn off or?

I'd probably lean more toward a loose piece of junk inside the tank, plugs the outlet and then you put a new pump on--the junk works it's way loose. Intermittent and coincidental that it happens that way maybe?
