L3130 Starting Issue

Hi,
Looking for suggestions to get a L3130 to start. I was running the tractor for a few hours with multiple starts and stops with no issues starting, until I turned on and tried to start it. The tractor made one click when the key was turned over. I tried it a few times with the same result. To try to resolve the issue, the battery was replaced, the ground was replaced. The area the ground was connected was buffed out to clean metal and the positive terminal was replaced.

I believe the issue is likely the starter, but before investigating the starter, should I be checking out something else.

Thanks for any input.
Chris

Try to use a battery sitting beside the tractor and GOOD jumper cables directly to the tractor (red directly to the starter terminal and black to a ground point on the starter. You might want to disconnect the positive cable on the tractor battery to get it out of the system (don’t know if it was new battery or just another battery that you replaced in the tractor).

That will eliminate the tractor battery cables that may be bad inside the insulation somewhere. Or you can just replace the battery cables with new ones.

You can also try to hold the key in the start position and wiggle everything that has a safety switch (that keeps it from cranking) like the seat, clutch, PTO lever, HST pedal….

Make 100% sure tractor is in neutral and set brake.
Turn the key to run.
Jump the solenoid wire on the starter and see if it cranks and starts.
