L3000DT will not start

I searched through the forums for similar problems but not exactly the same. I turn the ignition key-nothing, wiggle the shift lever a little and I can hear the starter move. Fuses are fine, safety switches appear to be working normally. I read somewhere about a switch getting dirty and my tractor got muddy before it stopped cranking. I am pressure washing today but unsure of location of this "safety switch". TIA
