I have a bypass set, when I turn the key at the moment, with a new battery, the lights go dim, but that's all that happens. I hooked up a bypass to test the starter, and the starter just whirrs, doesn't engage. I do have a new starter ready to install, but want to make sure I'm not missing something.

'dim' lights indicates a 'bad' wire or connection....

How old are the battery cables ?
ANY corrosion on them ?
One piece or 'repaired' ?
All4 connections really,really good ?

No corrosion on cables, the starts spins very fast when the passthrough is used. The small wire that connects to the solenoid, I took off and put back on, checking to see that it was clean and seated well. The other two wires (The large ones) were well seated, no visible corrosion. I did not actually trace the wire, but can. I was using a lithium battery with 400CCA, and that was spinning the starter every time, but it also blew the fuse, so I went back to a traditional battery. Also, the starter did stop working even with the 400CCA battery, and kept blowing the fuse, which I why I thought it might be the solenoid that had failed.

Figured it out, I connected to the proper places and it started right up, just going to cheat and add a push button for the starter.
