I have a Kubota D905 three cylinder that is powering a generator. I just purchased this unit, but there appears to be a problem with the governor.

The governor is not keeping the RPM of the motor steady at 1800 RPM under load. The governor will allow the engine to drop to about 1500 rpm under a 4500 watt load, if I adjust the low idle speed to keep the RPM to 1800 while under load, the RPM will rise to about 2100 rpm when the load is removed. This is problematic because it causes the voltages and frequencies of the power generated to be all out of spec.

I have removed the side cover below the injection pump, the springs all appear to be intact, and the levers appear to slide freely, the little bump in the bottom of the injector pump moves freely along with the levers. If I start it with the cover off the throttle appears to move smoothy if manually moved with a screwdriver.

Any ideas on where to look next are much appreciated, other than that the little Kubota appears to run beautifully.
