I know this has been covered before and I never paid much attention to it. I have come across a king cutter 5 foot tiller to settle out an estate. It looks almost new, and Im not sure what model number it is. So whats the pros and cons, aside from it being made of chineeisum.

con....5' seems too much tiller, even for the B2601. I can stall my 43HP tractor with my 5' tiller.
Much depends upon type of soil ,pretilled ? sandy? high tilthe ?
pro... is if you get for less than 2K, it'd be an 'ok' deal.

You should be able to pull it if it's a forward rotation model. You want a tiller to be wide enough to cover the tractor track. Some of the reverse rotation tillers you can flip the gear in and make them rotate forward.

Check the oil level hole on the side gearbox. Stick the top gearbox to see what the oil level is. It should be about half the depth of the gearbox. If the side gearbox is over filled and the top gearbox is low the seal in the side of the top gearbox is bad. I bought a 6' china tiller from RK that had this syndrome from new. I caught it but thought it was a preparation error. I didn't figure it out until I corrected it a couple of times and it kept happening. By that time it was out of it's 30 day warranty. I have just been draining the side box and pouring it back in the top. I don't use it for long or often enough to warrant the repair.

Good day.

I don’t have exactly same machine (similar HP though?) as you but, I would say my B runs a 58” Reverse tine tiller just fine. For me in my case/soil I don’t think I would have a problem with 2 more inches.

For me, I have a hilly property and I do need to keep the loader on….steering gets really light really quick if tilling up a slight grade. 🥃

Chinesium? Mine is as tough as nails. I'd buy another one, if this one ever would wear out.
Mine is US made.

King Kutter are USA made.
They used King Kutter Ii name like 15 years ago and those units were made in Ohio.
Now they are made in Alabama.
I have a 6’ Professional series.
Very happy with it.

I have a 5' King Kutter and it is still in great shape at 15 years old. My old tractor was 24hp at Pto and it ran the tiller well. Wet soil was a load for the tractor so I would drop down a gear.

Well I went back for it, and the Lady, daughter gave me a price of 1150,, So cash in hand, that's what I went back with. Now the son jumps in and doubles the price. I tried to explain what he wanted was almost what a new one would cost,,,, the smug little twit says take it or leave it,, I came home empty handed.. Somedays I really hate people

That's a real bummer! I recently purchased a KK 5' tiller off of an acquaintance for $600 that had been barely been used. I run it on my 2502 in red clay and it does very well. It's built like a tank!

Fall 2022 I paid $1800 for a brand new King Kutter 6’ professional series tiller from Fleet Farm in MN.
Just an FYI what kind of off season sales can offer.

I have found that it is always best to have "cash in hand" at the initial viewing.
If you had done so, you would now own a KK tiller, for $1150.
