All,

I'm working on 1985 L4150.....unknown hours. Ran poorly, so that why I'm working on it. It's kinda a big job to do a compression test on it, but I did. It was a cold test though. I didn't have any cylinder under 380 nothing over 400.

I pulled the injectors and pump, sent them to a service shop. The injectors tested fine, but 2 of the 5 ports on the injection pump wouldn't build pressure. It's all fixed now to the tune of $635. I did ask the tech what the issue was. He said the seat on the (forgive me if I don't get the part name correct)fuel delivery valves were eroded.

I asked if it was water in fuel on contaminated fuel. No, just a lot of hours.

So the question....on average, what kind of hours does it take to erode the fuel delivery valve?

Thanks...Dan

Hello Dan
I recently repaired a L4150DT with 1100 hours on it. Hard to start if at all. Compression was good. Injection pump was bad. Found the spring missing from the fuel filter. The filter was siting in the bottom of the plastic bowl not filtering the fuel. This tractor should run for many thousand hour whiteout. This type of problems.
Good Luck Lance

I'll second 007kubotaguy says, either a bad filter, wrongly installed filter, or the lack of changing the filters will cause excessive wear on the pumps.

That could be part of the problem. The previous owner did some "enhancements" to the fuel system. Removed the factory filter and replaced it with a spin on close to the tank.

thanks!
