Im in upstate NY, graded farmland with multiple springs that burst out after rainy days

I need to have about 3 acres brushed down within a few weeks for planting but upstate NY we're getting 3-4 dry days then it rains again. Im planning on using my m5660 with a 6 foot woods cutter. Im trying to avoid rutting up the fields with the giant cast iron rim AG tires but Im guessing they're going to dig in and shred the fields. Do you guys think 3-4 dry days is enough or should I start praying that we will get a week or more of dry days within the next 30 days?

thanks

Start praying. :)

Really depends on soil type and drainage capability rather than a time frame. Even good drainage would be tough not to cause some rutting after only 3-4 days when using a heavier machine and AG tires.

Yep, like Moose said, it’s really soil dependent. Just try driving on it and if it starts to rut you have your answer. Also disconnect the front axle and drive in 2wd.

Ive driven on the lower fields where the water pools down more and it ruts real heavy. The fields I need to get cleared are a little bit higher up but It did rut. Guess its time to start praying XD

It’s been a dry winter in much of the west. You can send us your excess water.

1st I'd wait until 2 weeks AFTER you see worms. we just had more white here in Southern Ontario BTW.
2nd, watched new Highway thru Hell and guy needed a 50ton wrecker to extracate his tractor/loader from the 'wet' field. I'd love to have seen the bill the guy got.
3.... PATIENCE or you will pay for it ,one way or the other.

As mentioned, YOUR soil will dictate the wait time. I can finish mow next to my creek 3 days after a flood with the L4240 & loaded R4 tires.

Yep all you can do is pray and don't blame the preacher if you don't get your way.
